Default What is most similar to Dunhill [for Men] 1934?

With the original 1934 Dunhill for Men apparently discontinued, what is the closest replacement out there?? A replacement that's still in production.

Versace L'Homme and Avon's Black Suede and a local drugstore scent that I don't mention for it is only available in the country I live in.

None are as good as Dunhill 1934, but both are good options if you don't happen to secure a bottle: Versace is more citric, Black Suede replaces the leather note with floral accords.

Cool Re: What is most similar to Dunhill [for Men] 1934?

There really isn't any. That's the bad news.
The good news is that if you Google "Alfred Dunhill for Men 1934 "
You'll find a lot of sites carrying it.

    Stock up!

Just wanted to revive this old thread. Wondering if there's anything currently in production that's similar to the 1934 recipe of Dunhill for Men.

The only thing I can think of that has a similar vibe is a cheapie - Under Control by Jeanne Arthes which is apparently still in production.

Last time I checked (within the past year) it was available at one of the online retailers. I don't remember which one though.

I see vintage bottles frequently in fragrance shops. An immediate buy, if you're developing a well-rounded collection. You'll most likely end up wearing it a lot, too.

In the ballpark I'd say English Leather, Antonio by Antonio Banderas, Leather by Avon, and Chanel Pour Monsieur, but all only cover about half of the board. Buy Dunhill if you can find it because it's just so damn good.

I think the floral contribution of lavender/carnation is similar to Tabac Original. They both have the same feel to me.

Seconding especially Versace l'Homme. Other possibilities quite likely worthy to be tested: Roberto Capucci PH, Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum, Boucheron PH EDP, YSL pour Homme Haute Concentration, Loewe para Hombre, even Givenchy Gentleman.
