Love that analogy, Red. I was coming here to recommend both of those. Especially Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. But, as a dark beer fan, I need to give Tom Ford Extreme another sampling.

I think Creed's Royal Oud would work well for formal occasions in cooler weather.

I would have to now add Sartorial.

YSL L'homme works for me in that category.

I gotta agree with Wonderwood...I'm 35, my dad is 66 and we both own a bottle and it works for both of us...he is a much more formal and serious man than I am, yet it has a formal yet modern feel to it.

I agree with both Bulgari pour Homme Soir and Acqua di Parma Colonia. Also, Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme if you can find the vintage juice, the new stuff isn't good at all as far as I'm concerned.
I don't have a signature fragrance. My signature changes a little bit every day, why shouldn't my fragrance?

I see it's already been mentioned, but Grey Vetiver was what sprang immediately to mind upon reading the thread title for me...

A lot of great suggestions have already been given, but I'll add Silver Man by Amouage. I always think of a tuxedo when I smell it.

Great topic and many nice suggestions so far, I'll add Narciso Rodriguez for Him Eau de Parfum Intense.

I can definitely stand behind LIDG(E) and Grey Vetiver as have already been recommended.

Dior Homme or Homme Eau will work excelente for a modern fromal fragrance...

Cant see LIDGE working in any scenario but, to make yourself a little more repulsive on a breakup day with the annoying girlfriend...

100% agree and its the first thing that I thought of, but I always mention/recommend it, so I let it slide. Glad you did.
