    Default Fragrance philosophy POLL

By "philosophy" I mean what kind of collection you are striving for, disregarding what your collection might presently look like.

*Correction - Last option should be "More than 15" obviously. It doesnt seem possible to edit the poll.

I have voted for the "10 plus" option, simply because I cannot picture myself owning few fragrances, though I crave for that one and only signature scent

This is a dangerous hobby... once you start to appreciate unique and interesting fragrances, you just can't stop collecting them!

same. I think right now royal english leather is my closest to a signature scent but there are many others i like too.

    Mine should read:

I don't want to place artificial limits on how many different fragrances I can wear. A number is just a number. However, there is a natural limitation based on space and $$.

    More than 10. No limits.
Maybe there should be a "more than 100" option !.

If you look at my wardrobe, you'll easily see my option was "more than 10 [15]." I can't limit my choices. Yes, I'm being forced to financially, but I don't want to create more limits for myself.
The other option, 4-15 "for every season and mood" is funny to me. How can 15 choices cover every mood...LOL...

I try not to impose limits on many things in my life and Fragrance is definitely a place where I don't have to.

I just threw the poll together without too much analysis. In retrospect, maybe the options could have differed somewhat. However, I do think 15 choices cover all seasons and most basic moods...

My own philosophy obviously differ from most basenoters as I would have picked option 3 although I can imagine up to 6-7 fragrances (as stated above, I didnt spend an awful lot of time analyzing the poll options). But in essence, I am looking for few enough scents to make them personal (signature philosophy) but still covering practical need for basic variety (formal, casual, nightclub etc).

On the other hand, as someone said, I can understand that the interest can become addictive. However, I am actively selling off my least liked, although great, scents as I buy better ones...

    Interesting to hear your views!

Point Blank, of course I made the comment about the moods in gest. Although it may be true for perfumistas...
And yes, many people go with the "signature scent" philosophy. But I think if you start becoming interested in STUDYING fragrances, notes, etc., then that may change. I know that's how it was for me. The collection usually becomes larger as you delve deeper into the hobby (as I suspect is true with any other hobby).

I can see that happening. I have just recently become more interested in fragrances, ordering samples of niche stuff I never heard of before... I guess time will tell if can stick to my philosophy

I tend not to go for a signature scent, rather I like to have multiple fragrances for any given occasion. So categories like spring, summer, fall, winter, evening wear, night out, formal occasion, etc.

The alluring aspect of fragrance is the unending diversity of choices to be enjoyed. Unlimited in choice I will be.

As a collector of scent, I place no limits on what I own. Just as any collector (wines, automobiles, art objects...), I collect and get rid of some; others I cherish.

I don't believe I have a signature scent, as this is like wearing the same dark suit everyday.

I voted for 2-3.... I've found 2 out of the 3 that I would need to pull this thing off. The last one of the 3 has to be decided on VS it's competition of about 15 other frags on my sample list.

ive settled on 4 main fragrances: A*Men, Le Male, Givenchy Pi, and Ice*Men. Varvatos classic is my classy/tuxedo fragrance, ive got numerous fresh/light/aquatic/whimpy fragrances from before i really got into this stuff/found those 4. once i use up all those (if i use up all those lol) im sticking with those core 4 and Varvatos...Ice*Men isnt made anymore though so theres a good chance ill eventually end up replacing it with Mugler cologne or something else lighter...i honestly hate light fragrances though so who knows, maybe ill just get a summer le male version instead

I used to think sky's the limit, but I've finally settled on 3 scents. GIT for casual use, Body Kouros for clubs/formal, and an undecided scent for sporty occasions.
WTT: Creed SMW for Creed GIT.

Since there are now over 1160 fragrances in my collection I felt obligated to vote for the 10+ option.
