Default SotD Saturday 29 May 2010

Morning all. I have a busy day planning my Eurovision party this evening, will anyone else be watching?

I'm wearing Knowing from a sample (sent by a fellow B'Ner). This is a scent that I would never have bothered trying if I hadn't been sent a sample and it's absolutely beautiful.

    Have a nice day all!

Good morning everyone Today is another sunny day up in Tromsø. So pleased that I actually have started to get a bit of tan now! Today will be spent like yesterday, studying and sitting outside on the balcony. Sotd is Fracas. And Candy Perfume boy: I'm gonna watch the Eurovision today too

I wasn't on the board yesterday, so here is my birthday wises for Taolady. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

My daughter was getting the school week finished up and running around packing for her trip to the shore with her friend & their family. She's loving it!

I ran around shopping: sunscreen, waterproof pill container, MAC Beach collection, perfume...you know the good stuff!

I wore Alien (the liquor version I bought last winter) and got several compliments throughout the day.

SOTD is Rosine's new limited edition, Une Rose au Bord de la Mar The notes are: neroli, bergamot, bitter orange, mandarine, immortelle, rose, jasmine, cistus oil, amber, ambrette seed and white musk. It's an Eau Fraiche verson, one with less alcohol, so it goes on light but has pretty good lasting power. It falls into the fresh, clean, citrus floral that are so enjoyable in the heat. Not earth shattering but pleasant enough.

Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, on a typically rainy Bank Holiday weekend. My nose must be getting better - I thought I caught rhubarb in the topnotes, and, checking, it's there!

I too will be watching Eurovision, hopefully!

Thanks to a lovely perfume friend, I'm testing Cacharel Noa Fleur today. It's a delicate, sheer musky floral and very, very pretty.

    Enjoy the day, all!

Like RHM, I wasn't here yesterday, so Happy Belated Birthday to my beloved Taolady. SO many times I have thought "what would Tao do?"
RHM - I'm so glad to hear your daughter is looking forward to her trip and enjoying life. Good stuff!

SOTD is Rive Gauche EDT; the modern version. I used to wear this a lot before I became a perfumista and was highly amused when I wore it to work once and my male colleagues of a certain age (OK, 35-50) lifted their heads and said "Mmmmm! Posh birds!" Turns out, Rive Gauche was unanimously agreed to be the scent of posh 6th formers (16-18 year schoolgirls) back in the late 80s and early 90s. Though, this is according to a bunch of nostalgic Graphic Designers, so please take that with a pinch of salt.

    Hugs and love to all.

    Hello everyone!

What a bunch of posh smelling birds y'all are! (haha - Wordbird, you always make me larf!)

I'm wearing what is possibly my all-time favorite fragrance, the original Calvin Klein for women from 1978. It's a radiant very rosey and chypre-y floral, and absolutely nothing else I have can compare to it (gorgeous to be sure, but I admittedly have an emotional attachment to this one that goes way beyond that - this is the first fragrance I ever chose, saved for and purchased for myself.) To me, this will probably always be the epitome of elegant, chic and stylish perfume, and I'm so happy that I've never tired of it or outgrown it. Long discontinued, but I have a nice stash.

Top notes - Hyacinth, Aldehydes, Raspberry, Peach, Gardenia
Middle notes - Carnation, Jasmin, Muguet, Rose, Orris
Base notes - Sandal, Cedarwood, Oakmoss, Musk, Amber

    Y'all have a wonderful day!

My layering experiments with the delightfully adaptable limited "Shimmering" edition L'Occitane Honey & Lemon continue. Today I've got one spray of the Honey & Lemon to one spray of Provence Santé Vervain and 5 sprays of The Thymes Limón. I can see I'll be doing this a lot this summer-- the effect is both refreshing and lasting.

Good morning, all! I'm enjoying a slow and lazy start to this beautiful spring day. Right now, I'm testing Micallef Mon Parfum. It's a very well-done, somewhat gourmand tropical fruit/floral blend. Could knock the socks of those of you who love this type of fragrance! It's VERY feminine, and too sweet for my taste. Notes (from LuckyScent) include mandarin, orange blossom, vetiver, vanilla, passion fruit, patchouli, musk, and caramel.

Twolf, I had so much difficulty with that and with my Basenotes pages loading INCREDIBLY SLOOOOWLY while I was using Google Chrome today, but, since I've been accessing this site using Internet Explorer, I've had no issues other than the usual database errors that occur about a minute before to a minute after the hour. Used to use Firefox, but it became corrupted and caused lots of problems with my computer, so it was removed. Hope your issues are resolved soon.

Happily sipping my tea as I recuperate from the Nordstrom Cosmetic Trend Show. What fun!

SOTD is my new purchase: Laila EDP

At first it seems like another wretched fruity floral. It's also kind of LOUD when you first apply. But it's now an hour or so, and it's a very pretty, very feminine floral. Very nice!

I fell hard for the cute blue tote that they used for this package. $96 got you the fabulous tote, the EDP, the lotion, a parfum mini, and some eye product. If I found that I hated the EDP, then it's a lot to pay for the tote, cute or not.
