Default Need suggestions for summer - not citrus, not fresh. Any ideas?

Been on a streak of rounding out my summer fragrance wardrobe. I'm well-covered in the citrus and fresh departments. How about something unconventional - a summer spice, summer oriental. Any suggestions?

Sel de Vetiver Neither citrusy nor fresh, but is a gorgeous light vetiver to wear in the summer!
Jaipur pour Homme Light, spicy, powdery oriental.
Cologne Blanche A beautiful light woodsy scent.
Fahrenheit Technically a fresh fragrance, but it's so different from whatever is available.

Malle's French Lover / Bois d'Orage is pretty nice in summer. Moist, damp, cool, green IMO - altho some describe it as dry. His Noir Epices also works for me in the heat - spicy and crisp but it has a dark Southeast Asian rain-forest undergrowth vibe going on as well.

MPG Eau des Iles / Chanel Coromandel - both also worth a look.

Good list. Sel de Vetiver - very intriguing. Thanks!

Exactly the kind of recommendations I'm looking for. Thank you!

D'Orsay : Tilleul - sophisticated, green floral. Awesome stuff, not at all flowery, its a Summer - Garden, without blossoms.
Caraceni : 1913 - Dark, cooling, calming rose scent. I would consider it "fresh" but certainly unconventional.

    A second on Noir Epices

Hmmm, summer oriental? Maybe AHEB (albeit half a citrus) or, even better, the summer versions of opium, which I find highly appealing and not as heavy/gourmandish.

Gucci Pour Homme II is really nice in the summer as well as year round. It's a spicy cinnamon black tea scent that isn't too heavy.
Imagine there were no hypothetical situations.

I'll have to try Noir Epices in heat...that is one POTENT frag. I find it wears like a really spicy soap on me for the most part. I have a tough time assigning it a "role" in my wardrobe.

    Re: Noir Epices

I might have been thinking of Luca Turins 'clove in a petri dish' comment. I had to traipse over to Macau last year in 30+ heat for meetings that required a jacket and with taxi / ferry / taxi site inspection and more running around on the ground I figured this one will keep me clean at least! If you're out in serious heat it actually works as a cooling thing for me . . . your traditional AdPs and Eaux don't stand a chance here in August. At the risk of getting too damned poetic NE has always reminded of walking into pretty dense forest in Java - when the light is cut off, it cools down a bit, everything goes very quiet and there's a tangible sense of organic decay mixed with new growth. It's a great feeling.

Noir Epices, Opium, Ambre Sultan - all somewhat daring choices. Cool.

I own Ambre Sultan, and I've heard that it (counterintuitively) works in the summer. I'll have to give it a road test.

Noir Epices and Opium/Opium d'Orient -- I'm curious. Have to grab a sample.

Gucci PHII -- yes, it is very versatile. Good call.

    Thanks for the recommendations BNers.

This summer I am enjoying Angel Schlesser Homme (a bit citrusy but is greek summer in a bottle), Angel Schlesser Homme Oriental Edition (oud and mediterenean herbs), Infusion d' Homme (the soap that never dies) and Acqua di Biela Ca' Luna (extremely difficult to describe, bitter, dark but transparent scent).

EDIT: How could I forget the excellent L' Homme de Coeur (woody iris and juniper berries)

Another big endorsement for both Bois d'Orage/French Lover and Sel de Vetiver. In addition, you might consider a gender-neutral or "masculine" floral like Maître Parfumeur et Gantier's Jardin du Nil, Insensé, Silences, or Goutal's Le Chèvrefeuille; a fig scent like Philosykos, Jardins de Kérylos, or Heeley's Figuier; or a pine/incense-oriented fragrance like Zagorsk, Wazamba, or Fille en Aiguilles.

Among other, less obvious summer favorites of mine are Fou d'Absinthe, Heeley's Cuir Pleine Fleur, Iris Bleu Gris, and perversely enough, Kouros() and Santal Noble().

also +1 for Gucci PH 2 and I'll add Gucci by Gucci PH - very close to skin and inoffensive.
