Thread: Dark Tea Note

    Default Dark Tea Note

    Hi all!!

I'm looking for a fragance with a noticiable dark tea note, some spices and citrus... for spring & summer, not too "thick" but with presence, and maybe a bit outbeat (maybe niche?). Any suggestions, please??

    Thanks!!

Stéphanie de Saint-Aignan Un Thé Au Sahara is a different kind of tea (usally green and watery). This one is dark indeed, ambery but mostly earthy thanks to a generous dose of patchouly.

    +1 Bvlgari's The Rouge
I won't necessarily think it dark though.

My favorite dark tea fragrance is Bvlgari's Pour Homme Soir. It's light, transparent, but still smells dark.
L'Artisan's Tea for two has a dark, smoky tea note, but it's also spicy and very sweet.

I agree with supperman, Tea for Two is dark spicy tea. I can't wear it in summer, since it's a bit too milky sweet, but that's because it's too hot here in Miami.

Maybe Russian Caravan Tea by CB I Hate Perfume? I find Bulgari's Au The Rouge a little on the sweet side but it could be a matter of personal preferences.

Gucci pour Homme II has a distinctive black tea note that not many people on here mention. When I smelled it, I couldn't help seeing the similarity between the tea in GPII and Tea for Two (although they smell very different on the whole).

If you want a fresh tea fragrance, I'd say give GPII a try. If you want something smokey and more spicy, then Tea for Two would be a good one to sample. Both of them fit your criteria though.

+2 -- I love that stuff. Its my favorite Bulgari so far. I never could decide why I sampled it since I don't like rooibos tea (which isn't tea at all), but luckily it smells more like black tea than rooibos. I do find it to have a certain dark element to it, at least compared to other light, fruity scents.

edit: Gucci Pour Homme 2 is also a good suggestion. It is a bit resinous in the base, which I think darkens it a bit.

Neither are really dark overall, but both have dark elements.

My favorite "dark" tea fragrance is "Thé Brun" by Brosseau (see: http://www.basenotes.net/ID26125640.html)

No florals. Very smoky and not sweet on me.

I wear some tea scents when I want to smell comforted and kinda "pretty".

Brun is a bit more "aggressive".

Not easy to find bottles any more.

For a dark, bitter tea note, Etro's Palais Jamais nails it. PJ is a very green, slightly rubbery scent with a distinct smoky tea note - a scent unlike any other I've tried.

Minis of Bulgari Pour Homme Soir are available. Got mine on Ebay. Don't think you'd regret the purchase.

    Bulgari Black (seriously)
    or
Dior Escale a Pondichery (marketed to women, but who cares, right?)

Also check this line created for Anthropologie stores; I tested several yesterday and 1856 Darjeeling was pretty good, as were others:
    A Rather Novel Collection
(again, veer toward feminine, but not extremely)

The darkest tee I've ever tried.

Whao... really great recommendations here! I love tea scents, but I only found Bvlgari pH Soir dark enough for me. Now I'm definitely going to try these scents.

English Breakfast by Mark Buxton is a dark tea note with ozonic steamy orange fragrance mixed into it. You can feel the steam rising off of the tea in this fragrance. This fragrance smells like it coulda been futuristic Kouros flanker of sorts, but without the dirty basenote.

For a pick-me-up scent: Té Nero Speziali Fiorentini, Acqua Vivificante. It's a body mist, so not very long lived, but it has a nice dry black tea note, a dash of honey and a bit of citrus. It's about $30 for 200 ml, so you can spray with abandon!

I think the Gucci Pour Homme II recommendations are good. Also try Theorema by Fendi (the feminine).

Hey, nobody's mentioned Comme des Garçons Series 1: Leaves: Tea.

Darkest tea note I've smelt yet. I swear, smoke & steam were rising from my arm...

I know that Parfum d'Empire has a tea note in their Ambre Russe, and Annick Goutal's Duel has a tea note.
