We all have opinions on our favorites. But, what is truly the greatest? It's likely to be something more mainstream, with a huge group of supporters. It's gotta be something that projects well, smells nice, lasts long, and is made with quality; no synthetic or metallic odors (unless that appeals to you)
Whether you like it or you don't what do you think is the greatest fragrance ever? My opinion, Azzaro pH.
Edit: Not to confuse this with the "your absolute number one favorite frag" thread. Many of you may have the same answer for both, but I don't. I consider greatest and favorite to be worlds apart. ApH definitley isn't my favorite, but it is commendable and worth recognition in every aspect of what a fragrance should be.

Christian Diors Poison, simple as that!
Maybe Égoïste?! Naah, Poison!
How can you consider something the greatest if you don't like it? I think this is a hard question to answer...

Hmmm...I'll avoid my inclination to say something vague and dodgey (like "that's an impossible question to answer because..."). So - to be to the point and answer the question directly - I'll say Caron Pour un Homme. There are other fragrances I maybe appreciate more individually in specific circumstances - but if I was personally forced to choose to pick one fragrance with which to spend the rest of my life, CPuH would be it. It's just perfect to me in any and all situations.

Men - tie between Kouros and Havana
Women - tie between Angel and Shalimar

Patou PH, or course. THE BEST cologne ever.
Sales thread here
"Smell with your nose, not your ears".
AC'S FAVORITES - Creed Windsor, Le Labo Rose 31, Neil Morris for Takashimaya, Xerjoff Nio, Profumum Roma Acqua Viva, Creed Green Irish Tweed, Bruno Fazzolari Lampblack, Acqua di Parma Intensa Oud, Acqua di Parma Intensa Leather, YSL Opium Pour Homme EDP, Profumum Del Forte Ambra Mediterranea & Slumberhouse Jeke
I have never smelled Patou PH (I really do hope to someday), but from all I have read about it here, it must be the greatest masculine.
I have a hard time accepting the idea of a greatest fragrance, though. There would have to be an agreed upon criteria, which would be a bit of challenge to formulate with precision.
Angel really threw the world a curveball and started the whole gourmand trend
as for guys? im really thinking ADG, its on a whole other level in terms of sales, popularity, and quite frankly, quality (for an aquatic its damn good). in fact like Angel, it started a trend thats (unfortuantely) still huge today
Greatest? I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.
For me? Habit Rouge! Or Jicky? Or Mouchoir de Monsieur? Maybe Derby? Shalimar? Perhaps I agree with Pour Un Homme...
"No elegance is possible without it...perfume is a part of you." Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel
Of the masculines I wear i would say Patou PH.
I would be deluded to think that even the best masculine compares to the top level feminines though. I just do not have enough experience with feminines to make an informed recommendation.
It is hard to denominate one single favorite, but
Bois du Portugal
Mouchoir de Monsieur
are very likely candidates to me
Grey Flannel, fantastic, long lasting and cheap (also my wife's favourite).
Kouros - love it or hate it - it is still a best seller
Polo by Ralph Lauren - very accessible, sophisticated.
Green Irish Tweed
Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.
A very subjective question. I would have to name a few, each for different reasons so, I can't possibly narrow it to one.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
