Default How am I going to cope? No fragrance buying for two months!!!

    Yes, it's true.

Me and my girlfriend have agreed to suspend buying of things (we're both Ebay addicts) as we need to save for a holiday in August.

How I will cope without my daily trawl through the fragrance section is beyond me...

Yikes, I believe is the word.

Yikes indeed! You have my sincere best wishes on this plan, I know it's a tough go but sometimes we just have to suck it up and do the difficult thing! (laughs)

I know it's hard man, just stop using fragrance for 3-4 days, and you'll see how much you'll miss your colognes and it'll make you happy with your current collection so the desire of wanting more n more is dimmed down.
Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.

Good luck with that. Yesterday I was like: "Ok, now when I have my car repaired I am really going to save some money and dont buy things that I dont need for couple of months".
1 day later - I ordered another fragrance that I dont need

Ha! Two days ago I "decided" not to buy fragrance for the rest of 2010-- in order to save for something big (maybe a digital SLR), and because I have run out of room in my little fridge! We'll see how long this resolve lasts, though.

Do as the great dandies did when pennies had to be watched: cut back.

For them: cutting back on gambling, fewer baubles for the mistresses and dancers, not attending horse auctions, fewer trips to the bootmakers and tailors! For us--less perfume.

Yes, it's hard but not impossible. I am doing this myself because of the world economy.

    You are correct MG...

I guess it is really a self-limiting obsession, (did I call it that? ) as I refuse to put anything to do with a hobby on a credit card.

That's the nice thing about being a grown-up... we can be as responsible (or otherwise) as we want!

Honestly, if I still lived in the UK, the only holiday I would need this summer, is a trip to Harrods and Fortnums.

To deny ones self fragrance is like denying air to breathe, wine to drink and French cuisine to eat. The very idea sends cold shivers down my back. Ya! Good luck with that. (LOL)

Best of luck with your plan. I'm also an Ebay fragrance addict and appreciate the hell you'll be going through.

But every cloud has a silver lining, on the upside at least you won't be bidding against me.

Lol - what's funny is that I met someone at an Andy Tauer event last week that I'd sniped for a bottle of Aramis Havana a few weeks previously. That was just plain weird as I'd never met the person before.

I've just realised something though - I have a load of Liberty shopping vouchers that I haven't spent yet! Hurrah! I can feed my addiction without er, breaking my word...

    Damn, that's only one purchase...

... will have to work out some other cunning plans...

I guess you could also experiment with layering combos. I have a lot of scents that are quite boring and linear.
I think many of them could be boosted with some added help of another fragrance. Take Paris Hilton, for example.
I smells very juvenile to me. However, with some added notes, like maybe a bit of vetiver or woods, it could
possibly be transformed into something that an older gentleman might be able to pull off.
