    Default Your favorite CAR-RELATED fragrance?

I'm a big car buff, and I also know the whole idea of automobile themed fragrances seems stupid, but there have got to be some good ones. Which is your favorite, and WHY?

I think the only car-related scent I've tried so far is Mustang (I think it's by Estee Lauder; not the Dorall one). It's certainly derivative of so many current-day woody orientals, but it does that whole woody oriental thing so beautifully I don't even mind its lack of originality.

I just recently blind-ordered a bottle of Hummer. I'll check back in once it arrives.

I've had samples of both Hummer and Hummer H2. I consider H2 to be my favorite car frag. It's got this
cinnamon/incense thing going on that smells so fresh and casual to me. I was once told it made me smell
    like dryer sheets.

How do you like the original Hummer? How would you describe the smell of that one?

To my nose, Hummer and H2 are nearly identical. It seems that most reviewers prefer H2 and I would agree as
well. I can't really see how anyone would need Hummer if they already had H2 and vice versa. There may
be some added depth to H2, but then again, it could be psycological, since H2 is red and Hummer is yellow.

And as a side note, if Roadster counts as a car-related frag, and I don't think it does, then I guess I
should change my vote to Roadster as well. Love that mint!

    Ferrari Black - It's fantastic.

Everytime I sort out fragrances that I should get rid of, this one stands there amongst the cheap bottles but I never give it the boot.
I haven't worn it in a long time yet I remember that it's quite nice.

To me, H2 was an extremely complex fragrance that had about 5 different phases of notes. Quite complicated really, at least on my skin, but at the same time I knew what I was smelling. My only complaint was that it didn't project enough, which for me was what made me return it. It had a fantastic base that doesn't smell like much out there.

Then there was Jaguar (blue bottle) I believe I did a review on this which express the way I feel about it. :Gags:

Jaguar Performance was pretty good but also pretty forgettable.

Both of the Mustangs were pretty nasty to me; Blue especially. Blue was a trickster with its very nice melon/fruity opening made me think "the is a great deal for 5 bucks" then it quickly transforms into metal mayhem and stays that way for the rest of the time. The original Mustang didn't give me any tobacco or woods, if so very very subtle -- it was more of a fruity musk to me, with some chemical smelling accords that my nose didn't like.

I'm sure I've tried some other car scents, but as far as those go, I'd go with H2 for sure. I would purchase it again possibly.

DK Fuel for Men. Nothing quite like it in my wardrobe. Citrus, Pineapple, Lavander Amber, Musk. Mmmmm..

Also Dunhill Edition ( ASTON MARTIN DB7 Dunhill Edition) is a winner. Citrus, clove, sandalwood etc.

The Lauder Mustang, no contest. Very good Woodsy Oriental, smells much more expensive than it is.

Honourable mention goes to the original Jaguar.

I have a couple of chaps who agree with me. If you don't think a roadster is about cars, then what IS is about?

The concept of the modern roadster is actually very old, extending back to the first third of the nineteenth century, when wealthy men drove themselves in carriages than being driven around by a professional coachman or driver. (It is more manly, after all, to drive oneself, n'est ce pas?)

Carriages called the curricle and Tilbury came into vogue: two-seater carriages with huge, fast horses (or a matched pair, like a 5-litre engine), with the leather carriage top folded down like the convertible of a sports car. A particular dandy was known for displaying himself in this fashion and popularising the trend. (Even Landau car roofs come from...the Landau, a type of carriage.)

Think of the first Ironman movie in which the playboy superhero character Tony Stark driving on the California beach coast freeways in his Audi...the soundtrack title is called "Driving With the Top Down."

I think Roadster almost qualifies as an eau de Cologne, as it is very light on me. The chrome, tail-fin bottle cap surely echos car design of the 1950s.

Check this out: elegant cars, and one named D'Orsay: the 1931 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8B Viggo Jensen Cabriolet d'Orsay. Many carriages used the name of the Comte d'Orsay for carriage models like the Coupe d'Orsay. The Comte himself designed his carriage coachwork (he was an artist, after all.)

My bottle of Hummer arrived yesterday. I must say that it is a very nice scent! It's not too unique because it does have a bit of a sport fragrance feel to it, with its giant sweet lavender note in it. But it also has some nice mossy green notes in there too (like in Swiss Army Classic), as well as peppery and spicy notes, that set this apart from the sport frag genre. I wore this today, and I really like it! And I hate Hummers as much as anyone else!

Cadillac for Men by Cadillac is exceptional! I have the EDT (there is also an EDP being marketed). In my opinion, if you like Arpege pour Homme by Lanvin, you would probably also enjoy Cadillac. It is somewhat similar to Arpege except that the Iris note in Arpege pH is replaced with an equally elegant Tarragon note in Cadillac for Men. The longevity of Arpege is also quite a bit better than Cadillac.
