Default Out of the loop for a while

    Good Evening Friends,

I have a somewhat extensive collection of colognes that I have been sitting on for somewhere around 5 years. Everything from Creed to Serge Lutens etc... They have always been kept in a wine chiller at approximately 54 degrees give or take. My question is, are they junk, past their useful life, or should I still be ok?

Sorry about the odd question but I have recently rediscovered my love of fragrances and hate to have to dispose of all my stuff.

    Regards,

    Bobby

My guess is that they are mostly still fine. I've had stuff for twenty years with no special storage conditions and it is still fine. Your stuff has been in ideal conditions for only five. I think some bottles may have changed a bit but I think some colognes, like fine wines, only improve with a little age.

If you have any doubts, I'd be happy to take the whole collection off your hands...

I'm sure they all fine. I've had mine much much longer than that and they're still fine.

I'd be very surprised if anything had gone off stored that way for 5 years. So, you kept all this stuff in a running wine chiller and didn't use it at all for 5 years? Why didn't you just sell it all at some point?

You may have some hidden gems in there. The original Windsor, pre-reformulation GIT and MI, etc.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. Yes, I do have quite a few and they have just been chilling out for a long time. Only on those special occasions would I venture into the chiller to take out the GIT or Aqua Di Parma. I have everything from Santa Maria Novella and Chergui to Czech & Speake No.88

As to why it's been so long there are several reasons. First and Foremost my significant other developed a sensitivity to all scents, which has slowly been subsiding. I also happened to move to a agricultural community where many of my friends frown upon what they consider to be "girly" smelling stuff. Frankly, I have had it with their nonsense and long to get back into the swing of things.

5 years or older? They are practically vintage! Take good care of those Lutens, they are the good stuff, even Uncle Serge is reformulating/thinning out the fragrances now..
