Default Favourite scent of the 40's?

Half a decade with war set on several theaters. What was the fragrance worlds reaction to these times and the second half of the decade, the clean up, new timid peace?

The only scent I personally know. own and wear from the '40's is Rochas Moustache. So I guess it would be my favorite.

I looked through a list of fragrances made from 1940 to 1949 in the directory. I was actually surprised how many there were that I'd sampled and liked, though none of them are masculines.

My favorite is probably a tie between the perfumey intensity of Piguet's Fracas and the subtle, almondy floral-gourmand of Caron's Farnesiana. I also enjoy wearing vintage Rochas Femme, and the light, cologne-like refreshment of Penhaglion's Eau de Verveine. However, it's worth nothing that all these have likely had multiple reformulations before they reached my nose.

    Old Spice was very popular.

Old Spice was very popular. And I recall my Mother wearing Evening in Paris.

If we accept the stated creation date, mine is Cypres-Musc.

Men's fragrances realeased between 1940 and 1949 are, according to Base Notes's directory, the folllowing:

Acqua di Selva by Visconti di Modrone¹ (1949)
    Cyprès-Musc by Creed (1948)
    English Leather by Dana² (1949)
Green Water by Jacques Fath (1947)
    Moustache by Rochas (1949)
    Silvestre by Victor (1946)
    Tricorn by Caswell-Massey (1941)
    Verveine by Molinard (1948)
    Vétiver by Creed (1948)

Of this, I tried and / or own/ed: Acqua Di Selva, English Leather, Green Water, Moustache and Silvester.

    Roudnitska's Moustache wins hands over.
