I love it how people who like Creed apparently don't actually like the fragrance, but rather all have just fallen for a con job.

Creed-haters are like those people who hate any band once they've gotten too popular... just because they are popular. Has nothing to do with the music anymore, just image. They get off on finding the "new" band before anyone else knows about it.

Has nothing to do with the music (or fragrance), but about using it to boost their egos.

I wouldn't care, but you Creed-haters tend to absolutely wreck any discussion someone tries to bring up about their product, and it's annoying.

I currently have 4 creeds Himalaya, VIW, Erolfa, and MI. I easily get 6-8 hours longevity out of them with the exception of MI which lasts 3 or 4 hrs....

The GIT Shaving Soap & After Shave Balm are very, very nice if you enjoy GIT but a little pricey IMO.

The OV Shower Gel does the original scent justice albeit just a little 'heavy handed' for me. Nice though.

    My love-hate relationship with Creed.

Love: SOME of their fragrances. Honestly, maybe two or three.
Hate: The price-to-performance ratio of some things.

On the topic of natural materials, etc. I really don't care what they use as long as I like it. I will never forget though, the first time I smelled a couple of their fragrances -- like seeing a black & white film turned to color.

I use the GIT deodorant. It is a way to wear a scent to work without it offending anyone. You have to be in a hot car with me to really smell it strongly. It holds up really well as a deodorant too. Creed doesn't offer many scents in the deodorant.

Who on this thread is an actual "Creed-hater"? Are you so sure WE are "hating" Creed, and not just annoyed at something else?

I guess you can point your fingers around since you don't happen to be one of those characters in your flawed analogy above.

Pay some actual attention and look around the Creed threads in recent. Who's been breaking up discussion?

A lot of us really like our Creeds, but maybe not for the same reason as yours.

We dont hate creed. But stop giving false impression on the quality of Creeds.

Just because it uses natural ingredients doesn't mean:
    - Other houses dont use natural ingredients (i know heaps that uses much more than Creed)
    - Other houses are of less quality (a lot of niche houses are of higher quality)

If Creed is good, there will be always a better house.

lets say Creed is the more "known niche house to the masses"... and that is why the discussions about this particular niche house are endless.

    On synthetic/natural:
Creed uses synthetics, cause they have to! You can't make a fragrance without synthetics. They use high quality synthetics and also high quality extracs of natural oils, composed in a way to make a nice frag.

There are also high end Designer houses, who do the same as Creed, i.e. using high quality extracts of natural oils composed together with good quality synthetics such as Channel, YSL, Dior etc etc.

the discussion of Creed should not be based on natural/synthetics or niche/designer it should be based on how they compose their fragrances and how they smell to YOU!
Having said that Creed has composed some of the better fragrances out there and has been around with strong clientel for so long (regardless who their clients are, names or fames should not matter).

I like using Creeds because I find some of their frags mix well with my skin. Given my dry skin, I say they do a great job.

Excuse me, when did I give "a false impression on the quality of Creed"??? You have actually put words in my mouth just so you can turn around and bash Creed some more!

I've never said they use more natural ingredients than anyone else. I once said that their scents smell NATURAL.... meaning that they make scents that highlight certain aromas found in nature (lavender, mint, coconut, watermelon, rose, etc). I don't care if they make it out of Bisquick. I wear it because it smells good and fits my personality.

For the foodies out there - It's kind of like the difference between eating at Chez Panisse (Creed) or at some fancy New York fusion-american restaurant (Amouage, say..). Chez Panisse makes simple dishes that let the natural quality of the food speak for itself. As opposed to other fancy restaurants, who create elaborate concoctions of many different flavors. Both taste good, but are different schools of thought. You clearly favor the mad-scientist formula and respect when they make a great creation. I prefer Creed's approach of simplicity.

What is quality really ? If you say Creed is high quality, then high quality relative to what? People say Creed is mainstream niche, it *might* be better than some new designer fragrances. But, compared to top notch niche houses, sorry, no way mate.

How do you know Creed uses more "natural quality ingredients" than the other houses?

Does it sound like a marketing statement ? Yes.

Is it overpriced ? Yep. Definitely. $240 for 120ml of an eau de cologne ?

My point is, since you are a basenoter, do not get too obsessed with one, because you might be fooled (you are) by the marketing campaigns, and missing out on the REAL deals.

and in the only other thread about Creed on the first page of the forum right now...

well i got some unscented aveeno lotion, put some in a container, not a ton more like a handfull in, put 2 vials of the fragrance in, stirred with a chopstick and it works fine and now i can use it to replace the fragrance. i am going to do this with other frags, i made my own himalaya shower gel but i want to make my royal english leather grooming kit, of lotion, shower gel, aftershave, shaving cream, and deodorant.

I have SMW and MI and they both work well on me. I love them and get many compliments. However, the Royal Water, I'm struggling a bit here. On me, I know this sounds weird, maybe it's just on me, there's a waxy/melted candle wax smell which makes it not flattering. Will definitely get more Creed frags.

I've got GIT deodorant stick. It does smell identical to the fragrance but, the harsher top notes tend to stick around a little longer in the deo. There is a lot of projection and for me, I've learned that the deo is not necessary to layer and can get overwhelming.

My GIT cologne and deodorant both smell quite identical. If anything the solid that the deodorant is made from has its own faint smell, but the fragrance in the two smells the same to me.

Some of their fragrances are great and some of them are alright.. just like pretty much any other house. I really love MI, I am interested in trying SMW again, and am wanting to sample VIW, Original Vetiver, and Bois du Portugal. The other ones I'd tried from them were boring, uninteresting and/or just not my thing.

I don't believe we need a Creed war ("The War Of The Roses" existed in history though ( : ).

Without being a particularly hype-vulnerable sniffer (not more than it is humanly unavoidable), I share many people's informed admiration for this house. More for its masculines than for its feminines, more for its "traditional" scents than for the modern ones.

There is doubtlessly a refreshingly solid number of other excellent houses out there but if I had to be limited to one house only, it would have to be Creed.

    By far.

I own Original Santal deodorant. Yes, it closely resembles the EdT, only not quite so in-your-face -- which is the desired effect, IMO. Works better as a light fragrance than it does as actual deodorant.

Haven't tried their deos. But I can attest that the GIT bar soap and aftershave balm are first rate, if over the top pricey.

I'm a shaving aficionado and I rate their as balm as one of the best I've ever tried. But at $70, it's a tough bullet to bite.

Hard to really say if the soap helps extend the scent. Perhaps a wee bit. The AS balm does extend it and it feels amazing on your face.
