Default The glass should be half the fun

I'm chasing some suggestions for a girly scent.

Something that isn't inappropriate on a 12 year old.
Something other then the standard twenty options at K mart.
Something in a bottle thats little girl cute.

I'll get some samples in and she can have the final choice but i'm trying to come up with a list of say 6 or so to choose from.
From what I waved under her nose she likes lighter florals... she went straight for Coco Mademoiselle and Le Jardin as the nicest of what was here to sniff. Albeit, this isnt the place to go looking for Paris Hilton.

But... as a present from the father she has wrapped around her finger, I'm thinking the bottle should be half the fun. Annick Goutals butterfly bottle, Vera Wang Princess... stuff like that.

    Suggestions please.

How about Harajuku Lovers? The bottles are adorable:

Those Harajuku bottles are adorable. Or what about one of those Annick Goutal butterfly bottles? Those are so pretty! And pricey, but if that's no object there's Petite Chérie and Un Matin d'Orage. Also Marc Jacobs has a fun bottle with the daisies on the cap, and I think the fragrance is pretty and appropriate for a young girl.

The Goutal butterfly bottles are simply lovely.

For a young girl, I absolutely adore the Love + Toast line. Sweet, girly, light scents, totally appropriate for a pre-adolescent, and the bottles are so darn cute. They even have girl-powerish inspirational copy on the boxes:

Gucci Flora is another one in a terribly pretty bottle, with a safe sweet girlish scent:

Or Mandarina Duck Cute Pink (haven't smelled it):

Nina Ricci's Nina line has some of the most adorable, covetable bottles ever. The scent opens with fresh and crisp apple/floral, then gets very caramelly.

This scent is great, but ... MORE KITTENS!

Yves Rocher Ming Shu - its' a light water floral - check out yvesrocherusa.com. I bought this for one of my young cousins and she loved it. It's a realtively good price, esp. for a kid.

I have nothing for you perfume suggestion wise, but I did want to give you a shout out for a big Welcome to BN. Your first post here is such a nice one about the nicest parts of a father/daughter relationship.

Yves Rocher also has FlowerParty -- darling bottle, happy sweet fruity-floral (I haven't smelled it, just going on reviews). I've thought about ordering that as a gift for my niece.

Many thanks ladies for the wonderful suggestions.

I've organised samples and when they arrive I'll have a testing session for 4 girls in the 9 - 12 age bracket. After I come off the sugar high I'll report back.

Has she smelled Miss Dior Cherie? It covers some of the same ground as Coco Mademoiselle, and it's all the rage among the tweens, I'm told. (By my 10-year old niece. Who wants a bottle something fierce.) It's a fruity floral, totally charming, and the bottle is cute but just this side of classy, so it's not like you're giving her some gag gift. It skews slightly older than Harajuku and Daisy, but not inappropriately so - perfect for the preteen age range. And the Dior name carries a bit of grown-up cachet, which girls do pick up on, even if they know little of Dior's history.

As an aside, I just tried these and they all smell GREAT. I like them for myself. The pomme-poivre hand creme is especially nice.

Those Toast bottles are adorable! I hadn't seen them before. I just gave my niece Ferragamo Incanto Charms for her 13th birthday. I recommend it all the time for young girls, and finally got around to taking my own advice! The scent is a pleasant, youthful floral. The entire Incanto line has beautiful bottles that I think any young girl (and even old girls like myself) would love.
