The old classics (Gold woman and Ubar, in much smaller part Gold man and Silver) are slightly different in their pre-2000 formulation, but the new ones were close. Then around 2010 it seems some Amouages (for women, I haven't heard reports for men) underwent more structural reformulations.

<<<--- Agree, Jub XXV & others from this house always get more mention, however, Silver is very good too.

I realize this is an old comment to reply to, but I agree completely. I only have a sample of Silver, but it's a beast on my skin.

This is a fragrance in the classic/conservative fragrance-family, and it`s perfect as a formal evening scent. I think It`s more spicy than the description point to, and IMO it`s the most underrated Amouage fragrance. It`s my second favorite, after Dia.
Absolutely! I think Silver isn't for me, because as you said, it smells somewhat classic/conservative, and that style doesn't suit me well... but it's excellent and your description is spot on.

Sorry to say it has been badly reformulated. Last time I tested it at Harrods, it was very weak and watered down. -Nothing in common with the strong rich former Silver.. RIP Silver :-(

I resmelled Silver a couple of weeks ago, and indeed it has been reformulated (more than once). The sample I have from 4-5 years ago is gorgeous, complex, and I can see how it can be defined classic. Then what I smelled in a store a couple of years ago was a simple clean neroli. What I smelled two weeks ago is not what it was 5 years ago, but it is much better than a couple of years back. It's more modern (ie cleaner and simpler) and with some fruits (but not sweet). It does last well.

Anytime I see Amouage mentioned now, especially in these old threads, it makes me a bit sad. I got into niche/luxury fragrances too late, and missed the train with the original formulations.

Ahh, the good old days. Anyway, the present Silver Man is good enough for me. Excellent floral, soapy-clean, fresh, very long lasting cologne-style fragrance.
