Default Eau Claire des Merveilles by Hermes

    New Hermes!!

The Scented Salamander gets the scoop...

...The new jus is described as being "cold, vivacious, delicate and sparkling all at the same time."

Eau Claire des Merveilles is said to have a gourmand facet and to offer powdery, vanillic and soft notes. There are also floral and woodsy notes: "A sparkling and tender burst of woody notes" is the olfactory takeaway the brand proposes.

This is the third re-interpretation of Eau des Merveilles by Jean-Claude Ellena. In 2005, he did a Parfum des Merveilles together with one of the original creators, Ralf Schwieger and in 2006 he composed the Elixir des Merveilles, a more intense and rich version of the original...

Eau Claire is a nice river town in Wisconsin. How nice that Hermes names a scent for it.
That girl, that bottle, that mattress and me.

Sounds interesting. If all goes well and hermes did indeed ship the samples I requested, I will be testing a few of them. I hope to finally test voyage d'hermes as well since it is summer.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Wonder why they didn't go with the 'clear' marketing and make the bottle totally clear (no color)?

From the press release, this sort of sounds like Flower by Kenzo.

Smelled this today (it's at Bloomingdales).

Loved it. Almost bought a bottle on the spot but I decided to wait and smell it again before I dive in for a full bottle.

It is barbershop-esque, with a delightful bread-like iris note that's milky and powdery. It is only when it starts to heat up on skin, that it resembles the original Eau des Merveilles. Light, sophisticated, very 'cruise' or 'resort' smelling. I would call this a summer gourmand.

Kind of pricey, if you ask me: $89 for the 50 ml and I believe $120 for the 100 ml.

A review on The Scented Salamander here

Bottom line: She likes it. I am not sure if I agree with the 'dirty' aspect of it, that she smells. But I do get the salty/milky effect, and I'm this close to buying a full bottle of this.

Sounds very interesting. I like the Elixir, so this could be up my alley. If you get it, I would love to read a full review from your nose.

I almost bought this today, but I had promised myself not to act impulsively while smelling perfumes, so my will power won. I really liked it. I brought a sample with me, so I will give it a full wear without the distraction of having 6 other perfumes on me

Cool! Do post about it here, or a link to your review. I haven't bought any of the Merveilles series, and am holding out for a fave.

Hermès always makes interesting flankers that add a little prismatic view to their scents.

    cheers

I was lucky to find one at ebay when it was announced To me, this is one is a light, sunny, gourmand take on the salty theme of eau des merveilles. The smell reminds me of an orange vanilla meringue.

The top notes remind me of Bois Farine. This is an airy perfume, but it has presence and lasting power. In the heart you start smelling Eau de Merveilles with a little bit of vanilla added. I have read reviews that talk about a cheese or milk accord. To my nose it is just creamy. Very nice. Oh I am so tempted to get a full bottle of this. I will finish my sample and see how I feel.
