    Default Jules de Christian Dior

So, what's up with this rarety?!

I thought it was long discontinued,
now I find it, at the regular line-up
    on dior.com.
Has it been there all the time, or is
    it resently brought back?!

If it is a regular, why is it so damn
    hard to find?!

    Have you seen it anywhere?!

In Paris?! Might as well have been in Sydney!

I wish we had Sephoras in Denmark ... oh, well!
Now I know the frag is on the market, so, now
it's just a matter of time, before it's mine!

Have you ever smelled this one Duc? IMO Jules is not a good candidate for a blind buy. Quite civet prominent. Stinky stuff. You have been warned.

I think it was having a gradual demise in or through the '80s, and must have seemed to the company to be on the road to discontinuation. (I'm only speculating here.) Then it came back into wider availability and I got my bottle. I think word is that there was a reformulation ten years ago or so, with all the cool guys who were 14 when it first came out lamenting that nothing was so cool anymore, but I think the currently available stuff is a wonderful smell.

Again, I don't know anything for sure, these are only my passive observations as a consumer who sees the shelves in a medium sized city and online offerings.

I have had the original juice. The stuff is completely animalic and powerful. Dirty, nasty but terrific stuff if applied with a judicious hand. If sprayed liberally, God help you.

I haven't, and I know. I wanna try this one out,
because it should be so godawful. Call me strange!
I will blind buy it, when I find it.

    And I adore civet too.
Well, Bal Versailles if not else,
it's also very dirty and sexy.
    I reckon I'll like Jules ... if I could
only find me a bottle, hmm!

See, Denmark is still quite rural when it comes to fragrances.
The Danes seem to be content with just Boss; Klein; and Armani
    ... zzzzzzzz!

I guess I'll have to give the Elector of Brandenburg a call,
maybe he can help me out?!

It was globally distributed when it was launched back in the early 1980's. Later, with the release of more successful offers, its distribution was limited, so it became unavailable in many countries. As far as I know, it has never been discontinued.

Be aware the vintage version is very different to the current one.

    ((giggle))

I loved Denmark when I visited a couple of years ago. But, yes I will agree with the Duc, their fragrance selections are pretty abysmal. At least the streets are full of adorable men to look at.

It might contain some civet, but the main animalic is castoreum. Yeah, it's a little stinky, but nothing like the original Cabochard.

The new juice is still excellent, but drier, without the same degree of natural, "oozing from the pores" feel as the original. Either way, I own the original juice and prefer the new stuff as it has less of the minimal congruence with Halston Z-14.

My newest bottle is probably 3-5 years old. It looks like the same bottle on the Dior site. It's loaded with oakmoss. Dior tends to do an excellent job keeping up the quality.

Wish Dior would resurrect the distribution of Jules like they recently did with Dune PH.

Sounds excellent pluran. From your description, it seems the reformulation is a much easier wear than the original. I liked the vintage version.....but.....I could only wear small amounts in the colder temps. It wasn't very versatile.

Jules (and Quorum, for god's sake) were early signature scents for me, back in "the day". I've certainly changed since then!

I got it about a year ago at my local Boston area Nieman Marcus - I was shocked to see it on the shelf! and it was only $60, so I bought it blind. I really love it, even if it's not my "norm" - it's like Eau Sauvage's dirtier, sexier brother. To me, on first whiff it was like Eau Savage for about 30 seconds, then the castoreum HIT me. Usually I don't like animalic scents - can't stand Kouros, for example, but Jules is something else altogether. I've never seen it since, neither at NM or anywhere.
