Agreed, as it's one of the few scents I've bought a backup for... and the Art Deco bottle is cool.

I've tried Gentleman. At first it's great, but after a few short hours that patchouli overpowers the civet and it becomes a "scrubber" for me.

I agree. I didn't like it at first, but it certainly wasn't because it wasn't good, it's just VERY unique in the world of vetivers, very nutty and smoky, and not as fresh or grassy as one would expect. It deserves to be considered among the few best vetivers out there.

Another vote for vintage Gentleman. The current is pretty good still, but I'd buy the vintage if I could choose. Givenchy III is also very good, but it is discontinued and not those most available.

Gentleman is great fragrance, but not quite my cup of tea, at least not yet.

Thumbs up Re: What Givenchy cologne you think is the best?

Insense, Gentleman, Monsieur de Givenchy and Vetyver
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

I need to explore more of this house, but so far my vote would be for Gentleman.

I never smelled the vintage Gentleman, but the new one is magnificent (the vintage from all accounts must have been awesome).
    + 1 for Gentleman.
