Default New Lubin Fragrances: Bluff, Figaro, Inédite, Itasca

Lubin Bluff: A racy perfume, deceiving by its appearances : topped with lime, bergamot and combining nutmeg and cinnamon, Bluff is first fresh spicy and woody. Then it blossoms into a sensual, almost greedy, heart of clary sage, iris and cola nuts. Its finally lands on a background of cedar, patchouli sandalwood and vanilla.

Top notes: Lime, Bergamot, Nutmeg, Cinnamon.
Heart note: Sage, Iris, Coconut Cola, Nectarine
Base Notes: Vetiver, Cedar, Patchouli, Sandalwood

Lubin Figaro: Bold and seductive like Beaumarchais, Figaro take as its inspiration liberties with the conventions. Its Vetiver and fig heart notes is embellished with apple, plum and clover. The coriander leaves gives the green effect and ocean pine provides a marine aromatic facet . The woody wake finally combines amber, vetiver, sandalwood, tonka bean and balsam of Styrax.

    Top Notes: Grapefruit, Bergamot, Pine
Heart Notes: fig, apple, plum, clover
Base notes: Vetiver, Styrax, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean

Inédite by Lubin: First, a rosewater, innocent and fresh as a mandarin of Sicily, Inédite is spicy and sweet, with a floral wake of heliotrope, lilac, rose and nectarine. Soon the vanilla, iris and patchouli reveals the spices. Sensual Circassian, rubbed with cinnamon, pepper and coriander, cedar and musk, make it even more voluptuous.

Top Notes: mandarin, bergamot, pepper and pink peppercorns.
    Heart Notes: Coriander, Lilac, Rose
Base Notes: Vanilla, Iris, Patchouli, White Musk

Lubin Itasca: The Forest of America. The Mississippi River rises in Lake Itasca, in the heart of Minnesota. Itasca by Lubin evokes America's deep forests, those of Algonquin Indians and pioneers. The Minnesota red pine accompanies them on a background of amber, incense, Java vetiver and Texas cedar . First refreshed by juniper berries, then it develops a spicy harmony of wood combined with cloves and nutmeg.

Top notes: Neroli, Mandarin, Juniper Berries
Heart note: Clove, Sage, Nutmeg, Geranium Leaves
Base Note: Red Pine, Vetiver, Amber.

The new Lubin fragrances come in Eau de Parfum 75ml spray bottles.

Itasca and Figaro sound really good. Cola nuts eh? Haven't seen that in many fragrances before.

    Edit: And those bottles! Beautiful.

Thanks to my good friend awayalonealong, a fellow Conehead, I've had Itasca brought to my attention. Did somebody mention PINE? I'm very interested in this. Thanks for this notice.

Thanks for the thought, petruccijc! And red, yes I'm not surprised that you are interested in this.
I only hope the amber is not too buttery-sweet, and the clove is not too barber-shoppy. Let the wood notes speak clearly, I say!

I'm decidedly interested in Itasca, but it has such an unusual mix of notes I really can't imagine just what it smells like. Neroli, mandarin, and geranium doesn't do a lot for me, but the spices, pine, and Javanese vetiver ( yay, my favorite kind ) really intrigue me.

I'm neither here nor there on Inédite, but I may try it because coriander and rose really sounds up my alley.

Yeah! Itasca sounds awesome! Can't wait to try it! Anyone has any idea who's the nose behind these fragrances? I hope it's Olivia Giacobetti!

Count me in as another one chomping at the bit to try Itasca. The cola one and the fig one both sound interesting, but will probably be too sweet for me.

The first I heard of them was on Perfume Shrine in the article linked above. I got an email from Aedes yesterday (Saturday) saying they were on sale.

mmm Itasca and Bluff are two I'll add to my list to try. I sprayed Gin Fizz yesterday, as it was one of a few samples I'd purchased from First in Fragrance a few days ago and I thought this was very good. I must have a tendancy for liking Citrus mixed with Juniper Berry on a warm base at the moment, as quite a few scents I've tried recently have these notes in.

The relaunched Lubins have been among the few recent fragrances that give me hope for the future. Excellent materials well put together. I hope these new ones maintain the quality...?

The fact that his vetiver was so ridiculously derivative, with little new to offer, I'm skeptical, but BLuff sounds like what Arpege ph could've been, and Itasca sounds like it could be another pine/fir I like joining Rocabar, Windsor, and Bowling Green. I for one hope the mandarin and neroli are very present in addition to the (hopefully bone dry) red pine. I hope the sage and Vetiver aren't too heavy in the mix.

I tried both Itasca and Inedite. Both are very nice and a bit unusual, although transparent. Inedite seems more for fall. It is a spicy, woody rose, very nice. Itasca is very well blended. Nothing stands out, not even the pine.
I really liked the new Gin Fizz. The opening is a little more vibrant than a sample I have of the vintage, but the heart and drydown are identical. I can't wait to try Figaro (which is coming to me in the near future) and Bluff.

wearing Figaro for the first time... great stuff! I've been looking for a alternative to Nez a Nez Figues et Garçons and I think this is it! I have other new samples in the mail to try, other Lubin's etc.. but this is FBW and it's going to happen soon!

I have Bluff and really like it. It is a nice woody scent with a unique bitterness to it which I think is the kola nut. My only problem with it is sillage and longevity are weak.

Does it truly evoke cola or not? I imagine that my HG could be a cola based scent - it has to be rich and deep and perhaps woody/incensey, though.

I don't get cola from Bluff but L'Artisan Mon Numero 10 has a rich deep cola smell. It doesn't smell like Coca Cola but more like some Virgil's Real Brewed Cola I got recently from Whole Foods.

The kola nut (a bitter-sweet fruit) when crushed or masticated does not smell really smell like cola, the soft drink. It has a dry/bitter smell which was well reproduced in Bluff.
