    Default S of the D - Sunday June 27

    Well.

    It's all y'all's fault.

You went on AND ON about

    Laguna
on Tuesday so NACHERLY I had to have it and by Friday - I DID!!

Luvvin' it!! Goes on slightly peppery - morphs into grapefruit and settles into briny, slightly fruited flowers. Go figure. Many complain of it's assertiveness - not on me.

    Anyway, I'm a convert.

    Sunny Sunday to Youse!!

Hello Basenotes! Long time no see... I missed y'all!!

I have realised that I have not bought a bottle of perfume since December. I have however, been buying shoes fortnightly on average (blame my two casual jobs in shoestores). I had been wearing JPG Classique for a couple of months on end! OHNOES!! Then a Body Kouros phase (got many compliments ).

Now today I'm joining Nostalgie in Ormonde Woman

So what's new and exciting that I missed? Le Grand Duc, loving your profile pic!

    Welcome home Jillsy!

I'm wearing a new found summer-leather scent, Dzing!. This doesn't go all stifling and powdery in the heat and humidity, but instead stays true to itself. I'm thinking that the ginger and saffron notes keep the leather accord in line. Love it! I wonder how Kelly Caleche (my summer-floral-leather scent) will feel about Dzing!? Perhaps I'll give them a go together and see how they get along.

I'm wearing L'Occitane's pretty rose fragrance today, called Eau des 4 Reines. I like this one very much. It's a slightly salty & fruity rose...perfect for these roaster oven temps we're having.

    Hello everyone!

I'm in Cabochard today, vintage perfume with a light spritz of the vintage edt. Mossy green and herbal leather chypres like this (and Scherrer, Azuree, Miss Balmain, etc.,) seem to work best in exactly the kind of weather we're having today - warm, damp and still, almost unearthly calm after the storms. Cabochard just comes alive and blends beautifully with the smell of wet earth, leaves and sidewalk. Although he usually recognizes Cabochard, Fiance didn't even realize I was wearing perfume - he thought the gorgeous scent was coming in the window!

Cabochard was created by Bernard Chant in 1959.

Top notes - aldehydes, citrus, tarragon, sage, spices
Middle notes - jasmine, rose, geranium, orris
Base notes - patchouli, vetiver, castoreum, oakmoss

Hey TaoLady - I'm loving that Laguna on you! Of course it's not too strong - spray with abandon! I get some luscious tangy and creamy lemon curd at one point - give it another sniff and see if you think I'm just plain crazy. Salty, sultry and beachy with sweet tropical flowers and lemon tarts - delightful and delectable! And such a great sunny vacation scent. To me, Laguna is Dune's fun and flirty younger sister on Spring Break in Cabo...no wonder it suits you!

    Y'all have a wonderful day!

Sympathies to those suffering with the heat and humidity.

From a sample, I'm trying out Black Cashmere by Donna Karan today. Not feeling the love thus far. It violates one of my personal commitments to not smell like a church of any denomination. Will retain as a refence sample, though.

Many of our town's folks woke up to 2 feet of rain in their basements. We are lucky -- only 3 inches! The soil is so saturated -- it storms every night, with tornado warnings several nights in a row. The air is heavy.

Ormonde Jayne Frangipani. First time in ages that I haven't worn Coco Mademoiselle or D&G Sicily! Summer just wouldn't be the same without Frangipani though. My bottle is almost finished so I think I'll put some others on ebay to finance my repurchase. Don't feel inspired to try anything new and am just happy to stick to my old faves. I hope everyone is well and loving their perfumes!

Hi, everyone. Today's my day off from working, so I've devoted it to testing. Right now I'm trying Patou's Sira des Indes, which is kind of a disappointment. There's something in the opening that makes my nose wrinkle, but the drydown is nice.

Happy birthday to ooolala & perfumeaddict! Welcome back, jillsy!

I tried Coco Mademoiselle this morning but it's one of the few Chanel's which just do not work on me. So I scrubbed it off & reapplied Estee Lauder's Pure White Linen Pink Coral. I really am enjoying this so much.

    Happy Birthday, Oolala30!

I have an unlucky day for perfume -- all my chores got in the way! I had Chanel #22 (Les Exclusives) on and then had to mess with Salmon... the result is less than spectacular!

I'm glad people are coming back to BN. I am still worried that "this might be a phase."

    Thanks so much, Twolf

The foot is well recovered and I spent the weekend at work spending the days being woven into many plots and just generaly being verbally abused, it's "part of the job" as they say, and it really doesn't bother me (I leave my ego in the car). Today the volume was just wild as all the air-conditioners hummed like vuvuzelas! Well it's over and I'll be sitting in the sun resting tomorrow. Hooray.

Glad you're liking the Laguna, Tao, Dali turned into quite the surprise favorite for me!
