Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

"There are people of spirit and there are people of passion but much less common that one might think. Rarer still are the people of passion and spirit. But rarest of all is a passionate spirit."

I'm wearing L'Occitane's Eau des 4 Reines again. Rose fragrances are working well for me lately (in this sweltering heat). Not so much for their longevity as for the many therapeutic effects, I think. I've been bathing my face with C.O. Bigelow's Rosewater as well. Very refreshing!
Happy Birthday to oolala30 and Zibeline (also best wishes to any other Basenotes Birthday Girls & Boys I may have missed)!
I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello everyone, and Happy Birthday Wishes to Zibeline!
I'm in my absolute favorite juicy-sweet and luscious honeyed magnolia, L'Instant de Guerlain, edt. Every time I wear L'Instant I think "now this could really be my all-time favorite"...but I think that almost every time I apply any of my five-star favorites. I guess it's just pointless for me to try to rank them beyond that.....but L'Instant really is quite special!
L'Instant was created in 2003 by Maurice Roucel. ♥
Evangeline, I love L'Instant too! and get magnolia from it as well. Recently I got jasmine as well, and this was special!
I haven't decided what I'm wearing yet. Either L'Instant or Lancome Miracle for a half-day of advising students at the University.
Good Morning All. EVANGELINE, you gave me a great idea, I love the smell of magnolia. But, today I'm going to mix it up somewhat. My SOTD is AVON's 'IN BLOOM' and L'OCCITANE 'MIEL&CITRON'. mmmmmh, very soothing, have a great day everyone.
... I am wearing RALPH by Ralph Lauren. Unfortunate name, terrible packaging, definitely not aimed for my age group, but I like it! I rarely wear it really, but it is absolutely perfect for the sort of uncomfortably hot summer day we're having here in Surrey, England.
Still in process of getting ready for the big move this Friday, but thought I would buzz by and do a quick check in today. Wearing SL La Myrrhe. Planning on moving over all of my 'fume babies over tonight and tomorrow . We still won't have electricity/AC until move in day, so it's been a sweaty project. We DO have water/septic now, though. Broke in the toilet last night and took a pee...
Big bunches of love to all....
Happy birthday to Zibeline and any I have missed the last couple of weeks. Will try to check back before the end of the week.
Hearts starve as well as bodies; give us bread, but give us roses. ~~James Oppenheimer~~
The air conditioning is so drying; I am enjoying my scented body creams these more often days. Today I'm in Imaginez la Provence Sunflower, which smells to me rather like a sweet version of Laura Ashley No. 1.
My first post ever here on BaseNotes although not my first time on a perfume board. I have been lurking here for over 2 yrs. and finally decided to take the plunge. Some of you already know me as "dawnkana" from PoL.
My Sotd is my current new love and one I have been wearing now everyday for over 10 days....
Happy Birthday to the birthday girls and hello to Dawnska!
Wore Narciso Rodriguez Musc oil today. Now after bath I'm loving Vaseline Cocoa Butter body lotion which I think has a smidge of 'marzipan' scent too. It is gorgeous!
Taolady, step away from the computer NOW! I've been hooked on Mafia Wars since last July. I can't stop playing!!!
Received in the mail today a preloved bottle of Jardins de Bagatelle. This was the first fragrance I bought for myself with money earned from a part time job during my senior year of high school. I've been wanting to have another bottle for a few years now (since discovering BN and replying to a few "First Fragrances" threads), but somehow couldn't talk myself into spending that much money on sometime that wouldn't get daily wear like it used to. I've moved away from big, white florals over the years and toward chypres and incense/woody scents. But I still wanted a bottle...
THeBay to the rescue! Finally scored a great deal! Now I'm off to crow on the June purchases thread and to update my Wardrobe. I love updating my wardrobe, yay!
p.s. MIL is still here and she's helping get rid of boxes and packing material for recycling pick up Wednesday. In a bit, we're going to start putting clothes into our new bedroom furniture, which smelled varnish-y and needed to air for a couple of days. Blood pressure is behaving. Joe is kicking and popping and marvelously active. Life is great!
Eddie: Sweetie, what are you drinking?
Patsy: Oh, this? Chanel No. 5.
-- Absolutely Fabulous
I have had a lovely day! Lots of calls from friends and relatives, a fabulous lunch with colleague friends and wonderful well-wishes here. I wore my "namesake", Zibeline (all Zibeline, including myself, are vintage these days), for my outing, and will finish my day twinning with Twolf in Lanvin's fabulous Arpege extrait!
Zibeline, in the last couple of days I have felt that aldehydes are behaving very well in hot'n'humid weather. Today it is humid but breezy and they are still behaving, but that Arpege extrait is about so much more, right?
Shycat and her Kai is back? Wowsers! How have you been? Boys must have grown big by now!
It got up to 102 F here today. I think it has dropped into the 90s now that the sun is going down. My SotE is Chanel Gardenia (thanks, Mims! ). The nice thing about this kind of weather is you can really get the full impact of any fragrance you put on.
Happy birthday to Zibeline
& happy belated? to oolala30!
Today I've been all over the map sampling -- think I'll wash up and apply some Sel de Vetiver to get my head back on straight!
Yesterday enjoyed FERRE all day -- then upped the ante to Iris Poudre in the evening. (both by Pierre Bourdon as y'all know!) What a lovely transition from the light day scent to the similar but more opulent IP. Think I'll do that again someday soon!
My parrot won't stop screaming today... oy vey... she screams (I call it screaming but it sounds more like a smoke alarm, since she learned it from the smoke alarm) then yells BIRD BE QUIET!! Then she screams, then she yells BAD BIRD!! She can keep this up for hours...
