Maybe Aramis. No, Yatagan. No, Eau Sauvage. No! Chanel PM!

I really don't know...there are so many cyphre subcategories that are so different from one another...

Hands down, my two favorite chypres are Aramis 900 and Yatagan.
I like these two in particular because they both have an edgy pungency to them that holds all the way through the drydown, which is a very rare thing to find.

Is Acqua di Parma Profumo unisex? It sounds lovely, but I've always heard it's more feminine than, say, Mitsouko.

On others: Mitsouko (my mom's and grandma's signature scent, so I really couldn't imagine wearing it)

    On anyone: Pour Monsieur

(Incidentally, though far from my favorite, Balmain de Balmain is a great (green) chypre bargain (marketed as a feminine, but totally unisex IMO) that often doesn't get the love it deserves.)

Chypre really does seem to be a monster classification. So many of the fragrances listed above seem like polar opposites. That said, my favorite of the class, as I understand it, is Claude Montana's Parfum de Peau. It's intense, yet sparkling- and my favorite packaging of all time.

Just so we are clear, everyone is pronouncing "chypre" the proper (aka Ash 4245) way, yes?

The old Pour Monsieur, though the more I experience Mitsouko...

Oops. They very well may be. As lazy as it sounds, I rarely pay attention to the classifications of scents, so I have difficulty breaking it down. I thought I heard it mentioned somewhere as a chypre.

First: Thanks everybody for your answers. Your Answers were very useful for me.
Second: I meaned CHYPRE itself. No Citrus Aromatics or Aromatic Fougeres.... i have very poor information about fragrances
What's the point that you say Sauvage is Chypre? is it in subcategories of Chypre? I thought it's Citrus Aromatic.

    manicboy,

Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme is a leather chypre, but Kouros is an aromatic fougere.

I also do not get chypre notes from Eau Savage.
