Hi Ineeespenes, I have had my lashes died in the past and found it looked good and lasted
    quite well.
I am testing Iris Pallida - from a sample sent to me by the very generous Ubeuandibeme!
This scent is truly divine!! I am in love with it although I will never be able to afford a bottle.

Dyeing eyelashes and applying self-tanner? I'm woefully under made-up.

Just did a dry rub of Donna Karan Cashmere Mist from a paper insert. Pleasant enough and a good change of pace for one who tends to get stuck in a rut.

    Hello everyone!

I'm in the all-but-forgotten, original Gucci No.1 from 1974. This has been a favorite of mine for a very long time, and I'm just shocked that so little information about it is available. Just locating an old ad is very difficult, never mind finding any notes! (I believe this is one of the searches that originally brought me to basenotes.) It's an exquisitely blended, sparkling aldehydic floral on a warm chypre base - refined, chic and elegant, vivacious but not flamboyant or loud... just classic in every way. Admittedly, I have a lot of nostalgia attached to it, but I think it's nearly perfect none-the-less. I'm glad I have plenty.

    Y'all have a wonderful day!

Following on my FB purchase arrival I'm wearing Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur this morning. It starts with a lot of citrus (to my nose lemon-drop sweet lemon) followed by a skin-scent that seems to me to have a little bit of a ginger-snap feeling to it.... I kind of bathed in it, but as with many Guerlain Masculines it is neither strong nor long-lasting. I don't get any civet in it at all and barely get the lavender... definitely not a soapy nose-hit as lavender sometimes is, anyway... blended nicely with the citrus. A good hot-weather scent if you have the ability to reapply OFTEN.

I like it and will likely decant it into an atomizer for frequent day reapplication, but it's another slight disappointment in its lack of longevity. It smells too nice to last such a short while.

On a hot day, I love Neil Morris' Zephyr perfume. The top notes are tangerine & papaya, heart notes of honeysuckle & Casablanca Lily. Basenotes (these are my favorite part of the scent) are sandalwood, amber & oceanic musc. Neil does wonderful things with florals and basenotes in his scents.

    It is hot today!

I started off applying one of the samples (saturated wipe) I got a few days ago, of the new L'Occitane Verbena Summer Secret limited edition EdT that is just being introduced today. It is very nice but rather fleeting. Maybe spraying more liberally from the actual bottle would make it last longer, especially if it gets on clothing. Hubby seems to like it anyway so may pick up a bottle, we'll see.

I then tried layering Provence Santé Vervain (verbena) over Rosine Diabolo Rose, for the heck of it. Very bright and fun, but the verbena overwhelms the rose, at least in the top notes. Probably not worth repeating. Ha, I do like experimenting with the layering.

Started out in Masaki Matsushima this morning. It lasted all of 30 minutes. Switched to Citron de Vigne. One hour later, I can no longer detect it. Hummpphhhh. My skin seems to be swallowing up whatever I put on (granted, these are light scents, but CdV always last a long time on me &!/?1!@).

There. I just applied some Rose Barbare. Hopefully that will last til the end of the day!

Update: It's now 5:41PM, and I can almost no longer smell my 3rd SotD. Yikes! It must be that my sniffer is out of whack today. I'll head home and try my luck with a SotE.

Hi, gang! It is brutally hot in the Boston area, with no sign of letting up. Phhhhhhht!!!

Anyhow, today I'm staying cool in one of the few neroli-heavy scents I can actually wear (Quarry, we'll have to do a side-by-side skin chemistry test in a couple of weeks, given how strong a negative reaction you had to my SoTD choice today... Which is, Fragonard Fleur d'Oranger. On me, it stays fresh and lightly orange-y, but the musk probably rounds it out a bit.

Fleur d'Oranger notes: Neroli, Bergamot, Jasmine, Musk.

I was admiring it & thinking how practical it would be if all fumes came in square bottles; how many more bottles one could fit in a drawer or box because there would be no wasted space.

Can you tell a lot of my purchases didn't come with boxes, and more importantly, that I am running out of places to stash said purchases? (must search old threads regarding storage ideas)

    GENDARME

(My first time wearing this since I had it on when I came down with a case of food poison a couple of months ago. I had hoped that the reason I haven't reached for it recently had nothing to do with negative memories. However wearing it today I think that may be the case. It still smells really good. I'm just not enjoying it as much as I used to, and it was one of my favorites. I hope it is just too soon, and giving it more time I will love it again in the future.)

    Hello dear BNers!

    SOTD: JM Vintage Gardenia (again!)

So...very early this morning, I dabbed on a bit of Magie Noire from a sample. I'd never tried it and was eager to do so. I thought "if it's not working, then I can scrub it off in the shower". But... I LOVED this first sampling of it...it's a bit much for summer (might be overwhelming), but so beautiful...will re-sample soon. I saw that the reviews of MN are very polarized, which I found interesting...

I woke up at 5 today, so my day started early. I'm working from home today, so some interesting sample choices here
I got By Kilian Back to Black on one arm and Ajmal Abraaj on the other arm. Boy, that one is strange! Is that oud that I am smelling? It's some different wood. I'm not sure I like it or not. It was a part of honey sampler, and I didn't think it had too much to do with honey. On the other hand, by Kilian has everything to do with honey and is really nice. I will be trying it again. Usually, most of the time, all my "love" tries start with three stars, and then sometimes they go all the way to four or five, let's see if this one does the same!

Hubby seems to like it anyway so may pick up a bottle, we'll see.
Oh! This is exactly what I got out of my mailbox today! I wanted to try it for a while, since I'm pretty wild about verbena. I might try it today, there's still time!

SoTE: So far, a reapplication of Mouchoir de Monsieur... I really am tired this evening and am not going to can tomatoes tonight (which is disappointing but actually a good break) as I did not get enough from the garden to do so. (the rains were tough on the tomato plants and I lost quite a few large tomatoes to rot because of it.) And I still have to water again tonight, as we're in a "no rain" hole between two storms. Le sigh. Oh, the pressures of a first-year garden's learning experiences on the urban gardenista!

SotE L'Artisan Fleur d'Oranger . My fragrances are not lasting well on me at all today. It must be the heat causing them to evaporate faster, or maybe the air conditioning affects them as well?
