Ot take her with you to a store that has a wide assortment and let her choose one.
You're in California; anywhere near Luckyscent in LA? (see: http://www.luckyscent.com/scentbar/)

Hovo - maybe you can discreetly find out what kind of fragrance she likes or what kind of notes she likes ? Vanilla, musk , floral ?
She may not like the ones you suggested in your post ?

Petty small minded people have no place in my life.
How about a coffret of minis with a gift card included for a full bottle after she tries them out?
That's a great idea! I am so going to steal it!
As a Poor Person-friendly tweak, substitute pretty little laquered papier mache box (or just a cardboard one you decorated with acrylic paint and polyurethane from Wal-Mart, or, if you have a nice collection of it, nail polish) and lined with scraps of velveteen or ruins of ancient ancestral silk lingerie or whatever, for cofret, and sample vials for minis!

My niece is 20. Some of the fragrances she likes are:
Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy
Vera Wang Princess
D&G Light Blue
Miss Dior Cherie
EL Sensuous
A Chanel ... maybe Chance?
I know some of these are pretty popular for that age group and that might not be what you are looking for. I happen to love the ones you mentioned, but honestly I don't know a lot of 19 year old ladies that wear them. I think they would be a test-before-you-buy kind of fragrance.

Chanel - Cristalle or Chanel No.19 .
For Les Exclusifs- Chanel Gardenia.

I agree on Miss Dior Cherie or may be Miss Dior Cherie L'eau !Dior J'Adore is another good one choice![]()

Ask her to come to a mall with you (to help you pick something or other) and in passing try a couple of perfumes from the suggestions above. Opium, Youth Dew and Shalimar don't seem to fit her tastes or the tastes of many 19 year olds. But I understand how you would like to give her the bottle as a surprise her rather than a gift certificate (great idea but not as romantic).
I agree about Chanel # 19 and maybe also J'adore. Another scent that fits the description of somehow green and not too sweet is L'eau d'Issey.I think the scents you've suggested are great classics. However , maybe not the scents most girl her age would wear since they're pretty mature in style.Another great green floral is Diptyque L'ombre dans l'eau, if you wanna give her a niche scents. A selection with samples of green and green florals scents sounds like a very good idea , though.
jacomo silences, definitely.
l'air du temps (at least the current that I tested) smells cheapish and not exciting
one other to try would be hermes - jardin sur le nil. it's a fruity floral but, has green aspects, and I think you would both like it.
so I'm gonna buy Chanel #19 or Issey Miyake L'eau D'issey, advise me which one?
Issey Miyake L'eau D'issey from those 2.
She's 19 and presumably not a huge perfume-nose. I think Chanel 19 is not going to fly as well.
Sephora has some great sets with several testers that include a gift card for one bottle. There are a few different ones to choose from. Make sure your city has a store though because I think you may have to redeem the card in person.
