Hi! I'm new to the forum and am in desperate need of advice. I've spent hours at department stores and specialty fragrance stores at the mall, but I'm just frustrated.
Anyway, I'm curious what you'd recommend for someone who:
Is Mid-twenties
Is a new attorney
Has more oily skin
Hates flowery fragrances
Has more oily skin
Wants something masculine (but not tobboccoey like the Green Polo 1978)
Wants something that lasts!!! (I can't stand it when colognes only last an hour)
I really liked Hugo when I was in high school, but I have read horrible reviews about it on the site. (I don't want to be walking around with something that smells sour to people). Also, in high school, I really liked the DKNY that was in the tall spritzer that is no longer in production.
Anyway, I'm really curious what your thoughts would be and appreciate any recommendations.

Have you tried a vetiver scent? Encre Noir by Lalique is worth checking out.

These are based on being "work" scents more than "play" scents. None are too flowery or tobacco-ish. As a new BNer, you'll find that longevity varies a lot from person to person. Most of these are known for pretty good legs.
A lot of this comes down to testing. You may feel some of these are more "mature" than you want to smell. But as an attorney, I think you might want to lean a bit more mature than super contemporary. Ultimately, you should try to develop a discipline of obtaining test samples to wear for a day. Running in store, spritzing on card doesn't cut it.
Terre D'Hermes is the most contemporary and "safe" choice if you're looking for something quick. Excellent scent and versatile. Not too mature and not too youthful. Not a going to the club kind of scent.
