Default Cologne for a young professional...

I would really like something masculine that does not smell like tobacco, coffee, rum, or gunpowder.

    What would you recommend?

Azzaro PH is a classic. Enre Noir is a great vetiver.

I'm asuming your a 20-something and want a versatile office fragrance that you can also wear in a casual setting. I would definately not go for Azzaro PH.
Go for something like Versace Pour Homme, D&G Pour Homme, YSL L'Homme, or L'Instant EDT.

More information is needed. Otherwise I'll have to assume super cheap, well done, long lasting, and not likely to offend, though smelling like "cologne" (as most say in the USA): Lomani (1987).

Bulgari's Aqua. I've always seen it as a "suit and tie" fragrance.

Mafioso manly: Mazzolari Lui, Rochas Macassar
Corporate asshole manly: Azzaro Pour Homme, Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme
Seductive gentleman manly: Creed Bois du Portugal, Hermes Bel Ami
Wifebeater and beer manly: YSL Rive Gauche
Cigarette and poetry manly: French Lover, Jack Black Silver Mark

But for a young professional I'd recommend any of these: Grey Vetiver, Fresco di Vetiver, Infusion de Vetiver, Millesime Imperial, Erolfa, Green Irish Tweed, Ferrari Uomo, Bvlgari Pour Homme.

Hugh Parsons Yellow and La Martina Hombre- two rare niche fragrances, which, in my opinion convey the perfect country club-corporate-conservatively elegant manly image

since i've started wearing a shirt and tie to work i've been using this
    http://www.basenotes.net/ID26128290.html
(and when i'm ready to rip the tie off i grab the original ;P)
its mature without being TOO "old" smelling. i think it suits any 20 something professional. try it out.
