Some informed opinions? Or a link to an old thread satisfactorily dealing with this matter?
Was wondering the same.
Anyone with any info on how long oils/attars last? Longer than EDP? Shorter shelf life? About the same?
I think oil based scents would have a shorter life as oils turn rancid. I have Laura Tonatto Albi as an oil roll-on - the oil went bad and instead of citrus, I smell rancid oil. I have never had this problem with an alcohol based fragrance, although they can change/go bad by being exposed to light and heat.
Thanks for the info, Kevin.
And yea', I read about rancidity problems - it was with regard to oil extracts, tho' - not sure if it's the same thing or not. I know the deal with heat and light, so that wouldn't be a problem, but still kinda worried about picking up any attars now.
Anyone else with experience dealing with houses such as Amouage, etc? Is there a general number of years that most of these oils/attars last? Does it vary? Is the deterioration process strictly dependent on heat and light, or are there other factors?
