    Default Boozy Frag Suggestions

Hey all! I'm new to the world of niche perfume..but am totally addicted! I have been following Basenotes for months now. And have greatly benefited from lots of reviews, comments, etc. So thank you!! But now I find myself looking for a new boozy/woody/fruity (but not too sweet) fragrance for Fall. Wondering if anyone can steer me in a good direction and make suggestions for me to sample? (I am a woman, but don't mind going toward the more masculine side if I just love the scent.)

Some perfumes I have and love:

    Straight to Heaven (Kilian)

    Back to Black

Fluers de Sel ( Miller Harris)

    Bois de Paradis (DelRae)

    Coup de Foudre

    Nuit de Tubereuse (L'Artisan)

    Tea for Two

Six Scents, Series 2 No.5 (The fennel one).

I have tried Botrytis, despite how much everyone seems to love it, it's a tad too sweet and average for my taste.

Also tried Frapin 1270. I almost love it. I get a little too much candied fruit with it. (Sadly..otherwise it's perfect.)

I would prefer something sans tobacco as I already have Back to Black.

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to basenotes!

I suggest you try Idole and Gin Fizz, both by Lubin, both comfortably unisex.

Boozy? Off the top of my head, Parfums d'Empire Ambre Russe, which has a vodka-inspired topnote, and also Le Dandy by D'Orsay (yes, I know he was not a perfumer...) which has a whiskey/cognac scent along with tobacco.

    Welcome to BN, chaplain.

Yet another vote for Lubin's Idole. NOT the vintage, which is nothing close to the current formulation (in a good way), but the one with the African mask for a cap. It's the first thing I think of when I think of boozy.

If you like vetivers, my second recommendation is Fumidus by Profumum. It's all peaty smoky scotch on top and vetiver afterwards. I swagger just thinking about it.

Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I am particularly intrigued by Fumidus! This will be fun!

Thanks, Master-Classter, for the previous thread. As a new Basenoter it's helpful to get pointed in the right direction.

When I was little, my mother used to make bourbon balls at Christmas (unfortunately not appealing to children). They were somewhere between fudge and cookie dough, flavored with vanilla and bourbon. When I tried Spiritueuse Double Vanille, it really reminded me of my mother's special adult treat.

    Ambre Russe by Parfumeur d'Empire.
Many will suggest Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler which is rather pleasant but not very boozy.
