    Default Creed makes "Morning Joe"

    this was very strange...

I'm getting ready this morning, hopped out of the shower, got dressed. I'm half-listening to Morning Joe show on MSNBC with Joe Scarborough and Mika Bryzinski. I leave the room with the TV to (what else?) put some Creed Green Irish Tweed on, and when i walk back into the room, Erin Burnett of CNBC is talking about Creed and Neimann Marcus. I think she was referencing strong sales as an indicator of economic rebound (increase in luxury good sales). Then Burnett mentioned that Creed price point is $140 - $550. That started a discussion about how ridiculous that is with Mika mentioning how nice it must be to be a billionaire and be able to afford Creed. haha!

Then Mika goes "I don't get perfume". Then she goes, "and you know what i REALLY don't get? Perfume on men."

this prompted Erin Burnett to chime in with "me either. a man should smell like his natural self."

    the whole thing was surreal.

That's funny. I don't get airheaded bimbos on national cable news networks.

Incase people didn't watch it, these were the key points:

    1) Creed is set to be the no.1 selling brand at Neiman-Marcus

    2) President Sarkozy of France is a fan of Virgin Island Water.

It would be my pleasure to launch her fragrance journey by suggesting she try Secretions Magnifiques Eau de Parfum by Etat Libre d’Orange. That should reinforce her views.

Really? Top brand, period, or top perfume brand?

    Perfume brand.

No. 1 at Neiman Marcus, No. 1 at Bergdorf's-Men, and no. 2 at Bergdorf's-Women.

Not surprising, their scents take up a lot of space in my Niemans- both in men's department and women's department. They also have a very broad range, especially the mens. The SAs are quick to steer you to them. Much of the "history"- fake or not - makes for an easy sales pitch to someone looking for something more unique than their designer offerings.

They are the kings of brand identity in niche, like it or not. That's still not saying much. Ask any 10 people you know who aren't into frags and 9 of 10 will think you mean the rock group.

very true. I've never known anyone in my entire life who knew what Creed was.

that being said, I've turned quite a few onto them!

Their reaction is at least twofold I think:

a.) To mask their own elitist status and appeal to a wider audience, they pose as being average, thus the average anti-pricey-nice fragrance attitude. Believe me, if you knew their lifestyles, you would think they are anything but average.

b.) Disagreement is an attention getter. There is a reason why wars make news and peace between enemies doesn't.

Well, you were watching MSNBC. They probably were trying to make a case that whoever can afford CREED should have their wealth redistributed.

Being born and raised in Alabama (Phenix City), I certainly am not surprised to see an Alabamian using a Creed discussion as a chance to take a shot at MSNBC. That is how we do it down there and why I left as soon as I was old enough to. Some things never change.

I am not surprised at the huge market share Creed has at these stores....and usually in second tier cities, there is at least one boutique store that stocks Creed. The line is accessible, the frags smell very nice and the marketing and packaging are attractive to people looking for something a bit different than others.

Duke, it's MSNBC's CONSERVATIVE show. Squint (R) and the empty sweater (I/D).

MSNBC doesn't know conservative. The majority of its shows are hosted by extreme lefties. Surely I'm not the only conservative independent on this forum. And it doesn't surprise me at seeing people take cheap shots at Alabama, either. BTW I have lived in Memphis too, and I wouldn't trade it for Alabama anyday. Ghetto central.

Yes, lets cut taxes (to make righties happy) but then compensate that by burdening the government with vast levels of insustainable debt...thats the way to go, yee haw !

Seriously, what does this have to do with Creed or its sales figure announcements? Incase you didn't know, there used to be a political discussion forum here which was shutdown a while ago and such 'off-topic hot topics' are prohibited. The ban hammer could be just around the corner..

Yes it is the elitist thing to do. I remember Dianne Sawyer commenting about starving Chinese at a fashion show; and of course her $15 million salary and tax dodges.
