Default Make your choice: It's me or that cologne.

Have you ever stopped wearing fragrances because a significant other doesn't like them?

My partner likes some of the fragrances I wear, but oftentimes won't say anything if he doesn't like the fragrance. At other times, he just doesn't smell the fragrance because it is subtle.

I was just wondering if fragrances have resulted in conflict in any of your relationships and what you did to resolve the issue. Thanks.

Yep. I have plenty that my wife loves and likes, so I stick with those when she's around me. She hates Fleur du Male, so I wear that one when Im at work or away. Sacrifice is love.

well anyway, it was nice meeting you. See ya'round!

I j/k. I pretty much sample something new every day anyway, so there's really no consistency.

My girlfriend thinks im nuts for having so much cologne, but she kinda just accepts it since she loves the smell of alot of my stuff. It's never really been "OH MY GOD THATS DISGUSTING NEVER WEAR THAT!" ...well actually that happened with Dirty English

I thought the trick with Fleur du Male was to lock yourself in a confined space for an hour after application. I know my wife typically gets that initial blast of topnotes on a frag before I leave the house and usually gets a sour look on her face.

I had that issue with my wife when we were dating. I was repulsed by Angel so she got rid of it.

She likes most of mine, but I know there are ones she prefers over the others so I try not to wear a scent like Tobacco Vanille around her until its hit its drydown. Its one of my favorites but she cant tolerate it until the tobacco starts to wain.

My partner is extremely tolerant of my entire wardrobe. There are a few bottles (Patch24, Al Oudh) that aren't his favorites, but I still get to wear them and he gets to put in as much fish sauce as he wants when he makes som tum...

I don't think it's a problem for adults who can figure things out.

I find a potential purchase. Conversation instore as follows:-

Jon - "Do you like this ?"
Jenny - answers "Yes" or "No"

    Option 1 - Buy.
Option 2 - Leave on shelf.

    Isn't simple communication amazing ?

My wife doesn't like civet, especially Kouros, so I oblige her by avoiding the wearing of anything with civet notes in her presence. Other than that, we're good.

I've given up this entire hobby for a past bf who thought it "feminine" there for unattractive.

Needless to say between that, other stuff, and his ill-tempered canine attaching itself to my leg with its jaws just one too many times, his status is currently "ex".

But, if I'm ever in love again, I would do it again. People are more important than things.*

Spoiler alert: Kouros doesn't have civet. She just hates Kouros because of Kouros.

So far nothing I wear has proven to be a deal-breaker between a boyfriend and myself, not even Kouros (my last bf: "Ooh, incense!"). But if he truly despised one of my chosen faves, I just wouldn't wear it around him. Or maybe I'd gas him out daily until he learned to love it. I'm fickle that way. He'd understand.
