MPG Santal Noble
Geo F Trumper Sandalwood. Creamy.
Santal by L'Artisan Parfumeur is a quality creamy, masculine sandalwood fragrance. Its sillage is subtle but always "there". I get over 9 hours longevity with it. It is supposed to be discontinued, bu there must be some still available.

I'm a little new to the note, but MPG Santal Noble was my first thought. If I recall it was sort of oily/milky and a bit nutty or something. I've got a 5ml decant actually (I think current formulation) if you want, just PM me.

"Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy and genuine friendship that members of this community extend to other members - oldtimers and newcomers alike.
There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing right in front of me. You may not agree with me, but this way I don't feel the need to hide behind a bunch of bits and bytes - I am always within punching range!

I can't say I've tried a frag that has "creamy" sandalwood. To me, it registers more as "powdery." And for that I have Trussardi's Python (the "women's"), which is a gourmand sandalwood that is powdery and not too sweet (I'd call it slightly sweet, at most). The drydown is excellent, the opening medicinal.

I know I will invariably get flamed for this... but I got a bottle of Kanon Norwegian Wood and almost immediately hated it but the sandalwood in it is actually quite nice.
It steps toward sweet, but once the dry-down kicks in, the sandalwood really mellows it all out and it's not a bad scent. Longevity is low on me, but on another person, it lasted all day. MPG Santal Noble is awesome as well.
Yet another vote for MPG's Santal Noble. I own the original formulation and have never tried the newer one, but it's the most amazing fragrance I own and I own some great ones. I'd definitely call it a "creamy" sandalwood. Mmmmmm..........such a wonderful fragrance. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Taylor of Old Bond Street's Sandalwood is really very nice and creamy, with rose accents.
I have smelled the Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood that everyone is recommending and it is VERY sweet, so the OP is asking for a 'creamy, not too sweet sandalwood' and I'm not sure the Trumper is a good fit.
The MPG is also very sweet, in the top notes, but it then fades into a more drier, creamier wood base.
I have smelled a 'creamy' sandalwood essential oil by Montale (supposedly it contains Mysore sandalwood - whatever!) but it is an uber-expensive one. It's to-die-for and is creamy sandalwood nirvana - but it's so expensive I honestly think it's out of reach for most of us (including me).
You might want to try Sandalo by Lorenzo Villoresi

In a world where people smell bad, it is the personal responsibility of every Basenoter to improve the world one SotD at a time...
Diptyque Tam Dao is not sweet. Sometimes I cannot smell it at all for the life of me. When I can smell it, it is very creamy. You might give it a try.

Egoiste
A drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts!
This may sound odd, but Mazzolari's 'Vetiver' has loads of "creamy" sandalwood, and it strikes me as more of a soapy/creamy scent than a traditional vetiver.
And then there is Ciel Man, which is lovely.
I ~heart~ pandas.
None of these are pure sandalwood scents becasue they have incense and other wood notes in them. BUT, when I want a smoothe fantastic smelling fragrance that is strongly of sandalwood I recommend one of these:

MPG Santal Noble - too dry and cedar-chest like
Tam Dao - too dry and cedary
Trumpers Sandalwood - ultra sweet
LV Sandalo - too much woody rosewood
What you probably need is Chanel's Bois des Iles...creamy, woody, not too sweet.

Not extremely creamy, but at least not too sweet, besides very classic and manly
Sandalwood by Crabtree & Evelyn, not a very exclusive product, but still very high quality at an affordable cost
+1 on Bois des Iles - I really want to try the extrait.
Amouage Santal Attar is probably the truest rendition of Mysore sandalwood - great on it's own or you can add a couple of drops to most of the above and you'll be good to go.
Crabtree & Evelyn Extrait de Mysore Sandalwood was terrific in the 80s, must check it out again.
Its interesting to hear what everyone thinks is sweet. I think Santal Noble's opening is extremely sweet. And once it dries down, its not all that creamy. Everyone's nose is different.

My Top 10: Montale - Black Aoud, CDG Artek-Standard, Montale - Royal Aoud, Coach for Men, Buxton - Black Angel, Montale - Red Vetyver, CDG - Kyoto, Terre d'Hermes (EDT and Parfum), Aventus - Creed, CDG 2 Man
Chanel Egoiste Cologne Concentree
Serge Lutens Santal de Mysore has a really divine, creamy drydown. opening accords are spicy though.

I too find Egoiste serves the creamy sandalwood straight up with few embelishments.
Chanel Bois des Iles however is indeed divine!

+1 Norwegian Wood, this can be found for a very low price. I do agree, it borders sweet, but isn't too sweet or cloying. The longevity issue I seem to have figured out, less is more with this one. It's just olfactory fatigue, but this stuff will dry out in the heat, as do many fragrances that are wood based. So definitely not a good Summer choice. The projection is just right IMO for a mostly 1 note fragrance, I wouldn't want it to project too much; it even kind of borderlines that of a niche perfume in means of quality, it feels very expensive. Though I do tend to get that expensive feel from many 1 note fragrances. I highly recommend this hidden gem, this is nothing like the original Kanon either which smelled like a diaper.
Also +1 on Tam Dao, this is basically a less sweet version of Norwegian Wood, but it's a bit stronger, the only thing is that I don't get such a creamy element to it, not as much as in Norwegian Wood.
If my creamy you just mean non-dry or sharp, then both of these are said "creamy" but it general to me, I associate creamy more with a milkiness both in smell and feel, something like Polo Double Black is creamy to me in ways. As is Arpege pour Homme.
Serge Lutens - Santal Blanc is really creamy, milky... Santal de Mysore has a deeper and stronger sandalwood note (who remains curry sometimes...) with oriental spices (cumin), but not sweet.
