Talking Office Scent - Modern and Classy

    Hi guys,

What would be some classy scents suitable for the office for Someone around 30? I don't want it overpowering, but want it to portray modern style, class. In otherwords you know the person in the boardroom is running the show. At the same time I don't want to smell like old man! Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

You can't go wrong with something like Creed Green Irish Tweed, Guerlain Habit Rouge, Guerlain Derby.

I like 1-2 sprays of Yatagan under a shirt. It's present but not overpowering for a good 8-10hrs and it's completely alpha.

I think TOm Ford Grey Vetiver should be "stickied" as a stock answer for Modern Office Scent.

We definitely need a sticky for Office scents and party scents so people would stop posting these threads.

I hate to be too critical as I really enjoy these forums, but at least part of the problem is the search function is abysmal.

I'm sorry for laughing, but I noticed both of you have been here since... last year. If you guys are tired of it, what do you think it means for some of us old-timers? Honestly, it becomes white noise after a while and you just learn to either partake or ignore. But thanks for the laugh - it makes me realize how much intestinal fortitude I have by still checking the forum.

I have been recommending Prada Infusion d'Homme on every one of these threads lately. Interesting yet work-appropriate.

I think the question is always worth asking again. new scents can be added to list all the time.

Terre d'Hermes is just readily available and worn by so many, I would never consider wearing what every other Tom, Dick and Hairy wears. There are many more unique choices.

When I think of office scents I think of clean, non offensive, and just plain and easy on the nose.

Here's my short list of classy ones:

    Vetiver by Dior
    Uden or Kobe by Xerjoff
    Puro Lino by Puro Lino
    Clive Christian 1872 for Men
Balle Match by Patricia de Nicolai
De Bachakov by The Different Co.
Geranium pour Monsieur by Frederick Malle

I love this fragrance. Everytime I wear it, I ask myself "Why dont I wear it more often?" Its perfect for the office for ANY age. From a young professional, to a 60 year old executive. It is clean, soapy, soft, pleasant, long-lasting, classy, elegant, attractive, stylish. One of my big compliment getters.

Thank you to everyone who has offered suggestions, it is much appreciated. I apologize to the more established bloggers if I have inconvenienced you, however I think we all have a choice if we partake or not. I would not be offended if someone did not respond or pointed me to another post.

As some earlier posters have noted, it is easier not to partake than to criticize ones post. Also I agree if the search function was better, I might have been directed to a previous posting.

    Thanks again.

    Offices..........................

Wear whatever you want and less of it. It's almost all about application. You have learn how to use it. A tiny dose of Yatagan is extremely classy and hell of lot better than Grey Cheap Iris Vetiver.

Just to be clear, I do think this is a question worth asking. Work is one of the main places many of us wear scent, so it's important to feel good wearing scents there. Considering that, it seems this question should arise more. I only meant to highlight to I recommend Infusion often, because I think of it highly.

Also, I agree with Pluran above; you can wear almost anything to the office in the right doses, but I understand that not everyone is comfortable with this, so I acquiesce by recommending some soapy options.

    Also, welcome!

oh btw, another suggestions for a modern, classy, and masculine office scent is John Varvatos by John Varvatos. I think its an awesome fragrance. The projection is perfect for an office setting, and the smell is just divine.

If your a little older, Varvatos Vintage is perfect as well

yatagan for the office? great one but you don't need to cut heads... at best your boss will cut yours. the other extreme would be rochas man. varvatos and dolce gabana are for party time. the chanels mentioned may be pleasing for some around you in the office, for others not, considering it is work time.
terre hermes might be a good choice, but the idea for office , as i understand it, would be 'to be well noticed always, but to never stick out and get all the attention in any way'. this means no aquatics either, since it will put you in the grey crowd...
the best two i know for the purpose are polo green and tuscany. quite affordable too.

I guess they think, as I do, that those are modern scents. Happy face here.

Maybe this question and thread are better suited to the Just Starting Out forum since the new member is such a believer in old men's scents. Seems like a just starting out topic to me since so many new members don't seem to have seen all the discussions about how it doesn't mean much of anything.

    +1 Bois Du Portugal,
..maybe it isn't a modern flavor, but with a nice modern dress, it makes a very nice combination.. Very stylistic!
