Default I've found my signature fragrance for this fall...

Fougere Bengale Eau de Parfum by Parfum d’Empire.

Not a classic fougere - yet unique. Gourmand in a way. I love it.

I've loved every Parfum d'Empire fragrance I've tried so far. I haven't tried FB but I've heard rave reviews about it. It's been on my "to try" list for over a year. Thanks for reminding me!

I tend to love really dense fragrances in fall. I love Yatagan, Opium ph Edp, and Sables when the weather starts cooling off.

Fougere Bengale is a dense scent as such.

Congratulations! Have you found a signature scent for each season yet?

I was very interested in FB when I was still quite "hot" on exploring PdE, but somehow got distracted along the way and never got down to sampling it. This thread is a good reminder. Glad you found your fall signature, neal.

Fougère Bengale is among 10 best smelling fragrance I have ever experienced. And when I thought about it, I realized it's the one I have worn most often during this year.

It's amazingly unique. If there ever was a scent that could be called *animalic gourmand*, then this is the one. (Btw, another great one from this house, Aziyade, is also animalic and gourmand at the same time, although that one smells completely different to FB...)

To my nose Fougère Bengale is all about immortelle and civet mixed with traditional fougere accord - lavender, oakmoss and coumarin.

I smell fresh raisins, wet straws, hay, honeyed tobacco, warm fur of some wild animal, paprika powder, hot sand down by the water etc.

It is rich, extremely nuanced and should I say, way too underrated.

I agree it is a unique quality scent, dense and rich and yes, all about immortelle, a note which I can't cope with, unfortunately.

I don't know why I haven't sampled this yet as it sounds like it could really be up my alley. Thanks for the reminder.

Also, someone mentioned Aziyade. I read somewhere that it smells a bit like coca-cola. Does anyone else agree? A thin rendition of a coca-cola accord would be quite disgusting, I imagine, but if it was dense and rich I think a cola accord like that could be amazing.

I just wanted to add to the love for Fougere Bengale. At first, I thought the immortelle/curry combo was too much to deal with, but once I started giving it a few full wearings, I started really enjoying it. It is very dense and complex. I get wafts of all kinds of different things throughout the day and it lasts forever. (12+ hrs.) This and the equally unjustly under-discussed Eau de Gloire are my favorites from Parfum d"Empire. I like Cuir Ottoman quite a bit as well.

I agree. Immortelle and I are just not happy together.

How does Fougere Bengale compare with Histoires de Parfums 1740 (Marquis de Sade)?

In the dried fruit/immortelle/honey/tobacco mold, is it denser? Richer? More difficult to wear?
