Thread: SOTD Tuesday 03 August 2010
Good Morning everyone. Have all a nice Tuesday
L'EAU DES HESPERIDES
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

My SotD is Idole d´Armani from a sample.
Have a terrific Tuesday!
Everything passes. Everything changes. Just do what you think you should do.
My SOTD is Azzaro pour Homme Elixir.
Notes include bergamot, geranium, lavender, tonka bean, vanilla, benzoin and rockrose.

My carded rub'n'sniff sample of the fairly new TM Womanity has arrived, I applied it earlier before the shower and I am glad I did since I can't wait to scrub off all that synthetic sweetness and synthetic musk. They did not get enough figs or caviar in my little packet.
Will probably be Kenzo Fleur de The, from Tao Lady's stash.
Good morning everyone and a warm thoughts and lots of hugs to Zibeline! Been feeling a bit down the last few days, but feel much better today Sotd is Samsara.
Wolfie, that's so disappointing! Dopey name aside, it sounded interesting.
Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia
Have a great day, all!

Eau Premiere for me today. Love this version.
Sampling Kilian Beyond Love Prohibited
As nice a tuberose as any you'll find. Sweet as sugar served with a glimmer of salted butter.
I may bore of it and apply something over top later.
Thanks everybody for the hugs and well wishes. We are fortunate indeed that things turned out as well as they did, because it all looked so dire at first.
This morning I am going to dig out of all this house work, wash my sweet puppoos, and head off to the outlets in hope of finding some shoes for my mommy of the bride costume (I say costume as I feel like such an imposter in a "gown").
Anyway, I will start off in Guerlain Vetiver and then go with Chantecaille Tiare for my excursion.
Tdem, I don't care for that name either. Womanity? Do they have Manity for men? I understand that after Angels and Aliens he may have wanted to plant his feet on the ground, but still.
I'm still in roses, the spicy rich roses of ELDO's Rossy de Palma.
Y'all have a great day!
Zibeline - I'm so glad to hear that things are turning out better than they seemed - what a relief! Sending more good wishes to you and yours.
Hypnotic Poison. It smells softer, airier (is there such a word?) and less sweet in today rainy weather.
Hope your day went well, mine did.
I am experimenting with Chanel Beige today, One arm is sprayed Beige, one arm is Beige applied as a splash.

Annick Goutal Eau du Sud.

The sweet Kilian tuberose sparked a craving for Mitsouko, so I layered on that, then felt a need for something more. More! You say? Yep, a touch of Fragonard Rose de Mai (courtesy of my love, ComDiva) joined in. I think I smell rather okay.
(((Zibeline))) I hope you find the perfect pair of shoes!
I tried to log on last night, but could not. Oh well. My SOTD yesterday was the new Lubin Itasca and today is Lubin Inedite. Liked them both, but I think I like Itasca better.
Une Rose Chypree this morning . Have a good day everyone. I did miss you guys ysterday when Basenotes was down .
SotD - Dior Homme
SotE - Rive Gauche pour Homme, EdT Intense
Two male scents on the same day ... now, that's rare!
I've been covering myself in another EL creation - Beyond Paradise - for the last two days. I'm on quasi-holiday this week (have to keep up with critical calls and emails, but I am actually taking hols!). Doing laundry, playing computer games and packing for a long weekend away on the coast.
Somehow this scent seems less frightening at the moment. I think once I accepted that it was like an android bouquet, I really truly felt comfortable in it. I loved it enough to buy it, don't get me wrong - but it's a little bit of a mindbender and you have to get past the idea of 'expensive fabric softener'.
Of course what better scent to wear for laundry day
Wore Bath & Body Works Cherry Blossom (original one) last night for my Flamingo Flyby zoo promotion at the baseball field.
Today I'm wearing Premier Figuier Extrême by L'Artisan. I love the fig and flowers in this one.

Central Park by Bond No.9
I tried a sample this weekend and was not impressed. I'm trying to find a time to try it again, but just don't want to....
Let's try this again. My previous incomprehensible post was trying to reply to Twolf and the Womanity issue. Like Twolf, didn't love it and needless to say, not wearing it today. Instead, SOTD is Safran Troublant by L'Artisan. yum.
PM: Lumiere Noire Pour Femme Eau de Parfum by Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Bas de Soie for me.
Hadrien's Wall in Great Britain
From a brand new bottle of EDP direct from Paris!
It seems brighter and fresher than ever.
I could practically drink this tangy lemon on a hot day like this!

Missed you all yesterday! Hope Tuesday is going (went?) well.
Big hug to Zibeline from me, too. Sounds like things are back on the upswing for everyone? Will be hoping for your soon-to-be-SiL's full and speedy recovery. Hope the shoe shopping is a nice little break (do bridemaids still do that "dyed-to-match" shoe thing? eek)
Hey, without reading this thread earlier this morning (as I often do), I chose the same SOTD as Zibeline!
Perfect for this damp morning!
I didn't get a chance to mention that yesterday was my little girl's 1st day of 1st grade! She was SO excited! At school, she met her new teacher and sat at her desk BEAMING. The day went really well, and the excitement has still not worn off.
This morning she says "I'm going to do HOMEWORK for 1st grade! Yeah!" Big smiles. DH and I chuckled, but after we dropped her at her classroom, I said, "you know, it's going to sound funny, but I remember being little and being SO excited to get homework". I guess to the little ones, it's a "big kid" thing to get homework, and it must sound cool.
In honour of N_Tesla's excellent blind buy today,
I'm wearing Midnight Poison, EdP, to bed!
I'm wearing Bond Success Is A Job In NY today. Still love it! NOT however loving the heat here ... 105 today!
Yesterday I could not sign on. I wore Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar.
Zibeline, I'm glad your future son-in-law is better! Must have been very scary for a while.
Back from the gym . Scent of the afternoon- Carnal Flower.
Hi all! Today I'm wearing Magnolia Romana. Yesterday, I had a chance to try Caron Acaciosa, and I was blown away by its beauty!
Zibeline, how awful but a relief that your son-in-law to be will be OK!
Raindrop, I loved hearing about young Raindrop's first day in first grade! :-)
Rose Barbare (Guerlain)
Raindropsparkle ~ Awww, so darling. Thanks for reminding us all what it's like to start first grade.
Wow, I've been busy today. Just getting the time to post now...
This a.m. bright and early for a Boot Camp / spinning class at the gym it was Ma Griffe (new EdP) by Carven (thanks lilybelle!). I know, not exactly the butchest scent for a 7 a.m. gym routine, eh?
After a shower and at the office it was:
Sous le Vent by Guerlain
Since...well I got my new bottle of it in the mail yesterday so today I can douse myself without feeling guilty. Today the SLV smelled jasmine prominent at certain moments, which was a new facet I never quite recognized before. Neat!
This afternoon it is:
Eau de Guerlain by Guerlain
My go to hot-afternoon-scent.
Hermes - Caleche EDT (vintage) from a very generous Basenoter (THANKS Sweetie!). Previously, I've only worn the newer Caleche (have it in every strength because I love this scent so much). I have to say that this vintage version is amazingly smooth and lovely! I can't believe how beautiful it is. Sighhhhhh......
