Default Favored EdCs & EdTs that act like EdCs

EdC's are not my favorite type of fragrance. They've been overdone to death and many perfumers who've run out of ideas seem to fall back on the EdC formula all too often with poor and tepid results. By their nature, most are short-lived and don't develop much but when it's hot and humid outside, that isn't a bad thing.

The following are my favorite EdCs & EdTs that act like EdCs.

    AdP - Colonia Assoluta
    D'Orsay - Arome 3 Tradition
    Penhaligon's - Castile
    Givenchy - Monsieur
    Mugler - Cologne
Roger & Gallet - Extra Vieille
    Hermes - Concentree D'Orange Verte
    Dior - Dune PH
"I exist for myself, and for those to whom my unquenchable thirst for freedom gives everything, but also for everyone, since insofar as I am able to love - I love everyone. Of noble hearts, I am the noblest - and the most generous of those that yearn to give love in return. - I am a human being, I love death and I love life."

    Egon Schiele - Self-Potrait

My classics: Dior Homme EdT, YSL Rive Gauche PH, Helmut Lang Cuiron, L'Occitane Neroli (vintage), Davidoff Zino, L'Occitane Eau des Baux

    My favorites would be:

    Vintage Monseur Rochas EDC

Creed Zeste Mandarine Pamplemousse - It stays on for a decent period of time, considering something that's mostly citrus (to my nose).

+1 on the Hermes CDOV. Also, Eau d'Orange Verte. Eau de Pamplemousse Rose, though it probably isn't made in a traditional EDC formula/way, feels like it is purposed to serve as an EDC, it is mostly a bright grapefruit to my nose.

My favorite, that do not have the word 'Eau', 'Cologne', 'Colonia', 'Aqua' or something like that, in the name are:

    Gaiac 10 by Le Labo
Heritage (vintage After Shave) by Guerlain
Calamus (Series 1: Leaves) by Comme des Garcons
    Diorissimo by Christian Dior
Blu Mediterraneo Capri Orange / Arancia by Acqua di Parma
    Classic by Banana Republic

I admit that in the summer I love these guys. Especially frags that manage to seem very light and simple but have something interesting about them. The fresh rosemary note of AdP's Colonia makes me sigh sometimes. Goofy but true.
PdN Balle de Match in particular has been very good company this summer.
And L'Eau Mixte, de Nicolai's new cologne, is really nice, too. The vetiver/oakmoss facet brings it closer to a chypre but it remains very light and refreshing in the heat. Both have surprisingly good longevity.
I also think Annick Goutal's Eau du Sud is right up there. The herbal aspect of it is great.
Guerlain Vetiver is also very good in the heat, imo.
    And Penhaligon Blenheim Bouquet

I simply DONT get it. some of my strong EdTs (le male, a*men specifically) do NOT last more than 7 hours 90% of the time, while my dirt cheap EdC's (Socal) last WELL over 15 hours. My skin is weird lol.

Overall i really don't have EdC's or ones i like, but based on the topic, Le Male is my favorite EdT that acts like an EdC. im not joking, it acts like an EdC on me

In really hot weather, I go for:
    Armani Eau Pour Homme
    YSL Pour Homme (either concentration)
    Dior Eau Sauvage
    Roberto Cavallin man
    and also my vetivers.

    Madragore by Annick Goutal

I think of this as an EDC - it's bright with a bit of mystery - nice change from the more traditional citrus or lavender approach but has all the redeeming / refreshing qualities of a quality cologne and it's light enough that it doesn't feel like I'm 'making a commitment'. There's an EDP and Madragore Pourpre if you want to do that, though.

Goutal seems to excel in this area - the new Ninfeo Mio has a nice green EDC feel to open, but it does move into a nice drydown, not so fleeting.

    True.

As for my favorite edc/edt "edc's":

EDCs that act like EDCs? Very few on me.

Penhaligon's Limes and Eau de Cologne come to mind. But neither of these profess to have basenotes, if I remember correctly.

Forgot to include vintage Eau de Rochas Homme. I also have vintage Monsieur Rochas EdC, but it's more of a fougere in my book. Both Eau de Rochas Homme & Monsieur are brilliant scents (in their vintage).

Creed Bois de Cedrat and Hermes Eau D'Orange Verte are my favorite citrus EDC scents (BdC is an EDT, but wears like an EDC)

MY favorite EDC that is not strictly a citrus is far and away Guerlain Habit Rouge EDC. I like all the variations of Habit Rouge, but the EDC has a near gourmand quality of which I can't get enough. The longevity is what one expects from an EDC, but it's a pleasure to reapply when needed. Very light animalic touch to balance the lemon sorbet freshness.

I truthfully am not fond of EDC's or anything that acts like an EDC.

Actually, you're right. From what I've learnt, Monsieur Rochas is technically (and smells more like) a Fougere.
