Aw, castorpollux - you already named mine! Gendarme!
Just out of curiosity i want you to post what are your favorites in this "category"...in general i like the soapiness of a scent if done lightly and because i do like the "cleanliness" feel of it...
is it Pure Grace? or Amazing Grace? or Gendarme? or Carriere?
Perhaps Glow? White linen? Quatre Reines? Madame Rochas? Nude? Narciso R's Essense?
I want to know! (pretty please)
Aw, castorpollux - you already named mine! Gendarme!
I suppose Prada Amber is relatively unisex. I find it's a sort of powdery floral soapy thing. Simple and classy.
NEW STUFF FOR SALE - TOM FORD, Guerlain, Acqua Di Parma, Serge Lutens, Byredo, Diptyque, etc. .
Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads
Gendarme, Grabazzi are very nice.....I also like Sicily by D&G.....
Chanel No 5 parfum
I've always had a soft spot for Lanvin L'Homme and my girlfriend often borrows it - smells perfectly fine on her too.

I always get a soapy quality from Caleche, that I love.

"Three essentials for a good life: Someone to love, somewhere to go, and something to look forward to."
Of course there are different kinds of soap -- bath soap, laundry soap -- and it can be scented in any number of ways. I agree with tott's mention of Chanel No. 5 (not only in parfum), which smells to me like the kind of soap you get at an old-fashioned luxury hotel. (The aldehydes give No. 5 a soapy quality, but I'm sure the resemblance is mainly because the manufacturers of that sort of soap use No. 5 as a model for the scent. So it's not that the perfume is soapy, it's that the soap is perfumey...)
No 5 body creme, Estee, Caleche edt, and Verte Violette (more shower fresh).
Le Labo Rose 31 smells like "posh" soap to me. Goood stuff!!
I love the prim soapiness I get from Ivoire de Balmain and the expensive French soapy scent of Coco Mademoiselle.I also really like The Beat by Burberry(perfect soapy iris)but the staying power of that one is pathetic.
I'd have to agree with Pomander about Calèche. It's so aldehydic that it starts off with an unbelievably abstract, soapy quality that is far more unisex, in my opinion, than White Linen.
Plus 1 on Ivoire.
I find Prada Infusion D'Iris soapy too, but it may be because I always use the matching soap before I spray, so it actually is soapy --hehe

Hotel soap: Anything heavy on orange blossom.
Aldehydic soapy: +1 for No. 5, and Ma Griffe has always smelled more soapy than green to me.
Cabotine sprang to mind as my fav soapy scent .Evyan White Shoulders smells of Sweetheart soap to my mother.

I find aldehydic florals quite soapy.
Moschina Couture turns very soapy on me. Strangely Prada Infusion d'Tuberose because ultra soapy on me, but that could be a skin chemistry thing. The latter is not a favourite.
Rive gauche - beats'em all
Calandre - green and mossy and soapy
Farouche - similar to the previous 2, sadly, only sold in Harrods
L'aimant - very nice and clean. I love the smell on others but it's not bitter enough for me
Noa by Cacharel and Pure poison are the nicest modern soaps, but I do not wear them.
Caleche, Chamade, Le dix by Balenciaga are nice, but not on me.
I remember Je reviens as a dry soapy concoction, but was told the new juice in the transparant bottle with the black cap smells like really harsh soap and never bothered to try it.
+1 for Ivoire and Caleche
My fave soapy is Molinard de Molinard. Beautiful scent in a beautiful bottle.
Puro Lino is my very favorite, followed closely by White Linen by Estee Lauder.
Another one for Chanel N°5 and Infusion d'Iris. Mugler Cologne, too.
Ivoire of course!
Joop Le Bain (now discontinued I believe) was really soapy, like
when you just step out of a bubble bath.
I find Melograno quite a soapy fragrance too.

Soapy is my favourite category
Ivoire de Balmain
Prada Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger
Alessandro Del Aqua
Estee Lauder White Linen
Chanel Bel Respiro and Beige- really expensive soap
Jennifer Lopez Glo
Clean Provence & Ultimate are my fave of that line
I have to go along with Mugler Cologne!!!
Chanel No 5, Caleche and white Linen
For sale. Carnal Flower and Vero Profumo Onda.
Pleasures and N˚ 22 do the trick when I'm having a Dove soap moment.
+1 for Pure Grace But I just tried Dia Woman and I do love it, too.
Another Molinard fan! I have a small bottle of the perfume. It's a great green, a little soapy, but not as much as Ivorie. I tried wearing them together and they blended very well.

Musings and random thoughts about the genie in the bottle
Madame Rochas for me please!
I recently discovered Keiko Mecheri Myrrhe and Merveilles. It is somehow similar to Chanel 5 Eau Premiere (without the rose in the latter), yet it is fresher, and the soapy note is more pronounced on my skin.
Hmm, I have Chanel Beige, but I didn't think of it as soapy... Individual perceptions can be so different!! Have to sniff it again.
Another vote for Ivoire

It would be Ivoire and Caleche for me.

Funny! Madame Rochas and Farouche are not soapy for me (though my memory of the former is from the 80s, so I'll have to re-try the modern formulation). Both have that - to me - impossibly stylish 'leather handbag' note that makes me think of a well-tailored lady going about her business... I particularly love Farouche for that as it's also got a warmer side that mellows out to a sexy glow.
The soapy ones I like are:
Lacoste pour Femme (the beige packaging) = smells like fruity hand-soap or shampoo, or deodorants labelled 'shower fresh' on me.
Noa = Powdery, herbal, posh soap bar.
Beyond Paradise = Expensive fabric softener.
Byzance = Traditional triple-milled heavily scented floral soap bar.
So many excellent ones already mentioned, my favorite of the bunch would have to be Dia, it's absolutely beautiful!

I like Balmain Ivoire. So simple and clean and soapy. Great for office wear.

Not necessarily in this order:
- Chanel Nº 5
- White Linen
- Infusion d'Iris
How can I forget? Badgley Mischka Couture smells like a luxurious soap to me. Speaking of office scents, I think this could be a good one.
Chanel no. 5!
I really like the soapiness of SJP Lovely. While I love Chanel No 5, on a bad day it smells like hairspray to me instead of soap.
Antilope! Only available in EDC as far as I know - easy to wear.
To whomever named Rive Gauche, I don't smell soapiness in it at all! Interesting!
