Default Most overlooked fragrance on basenotes

So, the question is - what is the most overlooked/underappreciated fragrance on Basenotes?

Personally I'll vote for Profvmvm Aqva Nobilis. This is some radical stuff. All vetiver lovers out there must try this out. A classical scent in my book - combines a dry, unapologetic herbal opening with a warm, almost mocha-like, base. Badass stuff.

What does your vote go to?

    He Wood by Dsquared²
    Created by Daphne Bugey

    It's just beautiful.
I sprayed it on a card in a shop, immediately tested it on skin and bought a bottle of it 30 minutes later. Something I don't do often. It seems like I really love violets in fragrances...

Here you can read a very entertaining review:
    http://www.nstperfume.com/2008/01/09...grance-review/

The only thing that surprised me is that he is saying: "it can easily be worn by women.". Something I don't agree on. Although a macho men might not smell like violets, but hey.

This stuff has excellent longevity and sillage by the way.

Incidentally, I tried He Wood Rocky-something on a paper slip the other day, when I had already occupied all free skin, and I was pleasently surprised... I need to give this line a chance.

Rocky Mountain Wood is very nice.

I would like to name two as overlooked here...

    Eau Illuminee - Parfums DelRae
    Alexa Lixfeld - 002

Maybe not the most overlooked. But definitely under-rated, Allure Blanche Edition/Allure Sport are the only fresh perfumes out there I LOVE, yet they seem to be considered "trashy" for some reason.

I lucked out one day and got myself a bottle of Ted Baker Endurance on ebay. This is usually something that would be available overseas only. I'm no expert on ginger frags, but this one is quite pleasant as far as I'm concerned.

Based on reviews, I'm gonna say Burberry The Beat. Lots of negativity in the review section. Guess what? If you don't like pepper, don't even bother with it, don't bash it because it's an overdose of a note you're not particularly interested in to begin with. There has always been info/reviews/youtube vids on this stating it's very peppery.

Based on just unheard of fragrances, I'm gonna say Kanon Norwegian Wood for one. It's basically a one note fragrance (sandalwood) that is just as good as more expensive niche fragrances but is literally 97% cheaper than Tam Dao. I guess if this were more readily available it would get more love though. Another one is Samba Kiss Me, it stands out like a mother.. It's a gourmand with a niche risk. It takes a chance and pulls it off. It feels 10 times more expensive than what it costs, it doesn't smell like any other gourmands for the most part (smells like lemon meringue pie). Projects great, lasts long. Does everything that a far more expensive and unique niche fragrance does. So why is this unknown? Simple.. because it's in the Samba house. Finally I think Realities by Claiborne is very overlooked. We all know Claiborne just pushes synthetic messes. As synthetic as synthetic gets, Realities is no different, but it's synthetic going for natural. I get these natural vibes from it. I get blasts of coconut and lemon, powdery and woods; sort of smells like macaroon trees growing in a natural woodland area with a river running through it, the river being made of lemon juice, but not the freshest lemon juice and certainly not the zestiest, but it's definitley there. This is a great summer fragrance choice that doesn't focus on citrus, doesn't focus on fruity notes, isn't tropical, and isn't even close to an aquatic. Excellent, and overlooked!

I'm a big fan of Roger Gallet, and I'd say Bouquet Imperiale, or maybe even Lavande Royale. Extra Vieille gets a fair amount of attention here (and rightly so), but some of the other old-school R&Gs are really fine stuff. And so well-priced, too. Several have been discontinued recently. Good advice: snap them up, especially if they're in the older, vintage-looking glass bottles. The new plastic packaging is a travesty. The old ones seem like a very good investment in terms of collectibility - except for the part about how you'll love them so much that they won't last long in your collection.

I think Parfum d'Empire gets too little attention here.

Drakkar Noir. People mention it in passing occasionally, everyone knows about it, but no one wears it or has anything, positive or negative or commentary otherwise at all, to say about it. No one wears it.

I love my DN, I wore it a few days ago.. kind of a mistake in this humidity, but I had a craving for it. Still one of the best pre-new millennium fragrances imo.

All the creations of Yosh. Maybe because they are very expensive and maybe because the perception is that they are for women.

Yeah, Drakkar gets no love despite being quite good for it's time. I remember the 1.7oz bottle one of my dads greek friends passed of to him, and him to me. I was like nah, I'm good, but he said smell it, and it was fresher and younger than I assumed. Good citrus up top, and a good synthetic ambergris in it's base. It was good and deserves more rep here. I passed it off too as it couldn't compete though with my two favorites at the time, Cool Water and another overlooked fragrance here on BN.......POLO SPORT

AFAIK, It's the first mainstream western scent to use sesame oil, which imo, has the most wonderful olfactory textures of all the oils on the earth.

The Different Company Bergamote is a pretty well kept secret.

It's very simple and a great pick me up - I keep a bottle in the office.

I agree also that Adventure is a great frag. I wore it once to work, and got two ladies commenting on it! A steal at TJ Maxx for 10 bucks.
