Default Inspired by jnailen's post: What would Freddie Mercury wear?

    Well, jnailen's post ... Challenge: what would Geddy Lee wear? - has inspired me to ask;

What would a young, early Freddie Mercury wear?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-y2Hr7-Mpcg

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJZ7Vn6Pz7E
...Check it out from 2:00 to 2:15 !

I picture something dandy, sexual, flamboyant, playful, catty, kitschy, yet classy and unique.

God do I love Freddie and I still miss him.

    I'd second Bandit. Dirty floral/leather.

I think Freddie would have worn a fragrance from the House of Etat Libre d'Orange. Possibly Vierges et Toreros. The following description is from luckyscent.com. Sounds like Freddie to me.

    Vierges et Toreros
    Eau de Parfum
    by Etat Libre d’Orange

    The Scoop
Vierges et Toreros confronts the forceful animalic notes that lie in its core with the daring floral accord in the same way that a torero’s muleta confronts a bull. In the case of Etat Libre d’Orange’s creation, the opulent, heady tuberose is the red cloth that teases our senses when set against the animalic and resinous accord of leather, patchouli and costus. Spicy, leathery, lusciously floral and incredibly sensual, Vierges et Toreros is entirely unique. Witness how, when it slowly unfolds on your skin, the tuberose starts fresh and innocent, then drops all pretense and reveals itself in all its sinful glory…and how sublime it smells when paired with leather. A masterpiece!

    Vierges et Toreros Notes
Bergamot, pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, tuberose, ylang ylang, leather, animalic base, costus, patchouli and vetiver

Judging solely from this video, Hammam Bouquet, C & S No. 88 (the latter being maybe a tad too "dark"), even Creed Cuir de Russie- as he definitely had also an almost "swashbuckling", debonair side of his personality

Definitely No.1 by Clive Christian. Freddie and Queen were certainly No.1 for me.

No offense to the brilliance of Freddie Mercury, but what about Etat's Delicious Closet Queen?

He was of Zoroastrian ancestry. Since sandalwood is offered in zoroastrian ritual (from what I have read), I will vote for a sandalwood fragrance.

I adore Freddy for the true original he was. Closet Queen was my first choice. What about Citizen Queen by JHAG?

Closet Queen is a wonderful fruity scent (raspberry) with citrus and vetiver, if I recall, while Citizen Queen is a rose/leather.

Somehow I picture him being a fan of the A*Men and B*Men lines. Though I have to concur that Bandit and Kouros crossed my mind as well.

I'll bet he walked out of the house soaked in Ormolu on more than one occasion.

No prejudgment or disrespect for a superior artist intended, but I'd imagine he'd be in no scent but Caron's Coup de Fouet.

I can see Freddie rocking a birch tar floral leather, maybe Chanel's Cuir de Russie. Maybe I'll send a decant to rock'n'roll Valhalla.

I was thinking only about the fragrance name, Citizen Queen would probably suit him more - he was into leather!
