    Default Recommend me some weirdness...

It feels great to be back!!!

As some of might remember, I enjoy strong, unusual fragrances (read "80's"), and don't really care if I'm called "that guy that wears perfume". I recently bought a bottle of Salvador Dali Pour Homme blind, at a steal, and there have been no regrets. I've been reading the reviews on it for a while, which intrigued me so much that I had to have a bottle. And the only problem with this is that I'm looking for more of the same - the same as in it being weird

I've got my share of weirdness IMO - A*men, L'Anarchiste, Bandit, Eau d'Hermes, M7, Yatagan...you get the picture.

Please recommend me some more mainstream releases. The niche are unavailable here except for Etat Libre d'Orange , which I found out recently. BTW I enjoy old school

    Thanks!

Find yourself a bottle of Veejaga Haschish Homme and enjoy the ride this polyurethane-fest lavishes upon you.

Also, give Parfum d'Habit and Ocean Rain a shot. Both off the beaten path.

The 1987 Lapidus, Acteur, M. de Morabito, Leonard Pour Homme, Mesmerize for Men by Avon, Cuba Red, the original Chaz (by Revlon), Zino, Pheromone for Men by Miglin, and Michael for Men are not "mainstream" these days. Others are more difficult to find: Messe de Minuit and Cumming the Fragrance.

Royal Bain De Caron - melted plastic and vanilla with monster sillage and longevity
Moustache Rochas - musky, musky, musky lemon-lime with faint urine-like note at first. Definitely old-school
Fahrenheit Dior - violet leaf and motor oil
Fleur Du Male Jean-Paul Gaultier - I love this but some find it off-puttingly feminine and sweet; orange blossom and powder

Oh, Do get some Cravache. fantastic blend reminiscent of a sweaty,New Wave era Parisian with a joint in one hand and a lemoncello in the other. It's Eau Sauvage with an artist's flair.

Cool Re: Recommend me some weirdness...

    Glad you're back.
and most interesting posts--never heard of some of those

    Well, my 2 cents:

Infusion by Bombay Sapphire (2003) Nice verbena summer frag that smells exactly like Bombay Gin.
L'Air du Desert Marocain (2006) A beehive meets a tar pit. But is it art? Monster longevity
Quasar(1994) An aquatic frag based on newsprint and bananas? Not bad.
Avignon (2002) A berserk deacon runs amok with frankincense incense.
Route du Vétiver (1988) Can't stand it myself but it does freak out the Yatagan users, Y is mild by comparison.

Peau d'Espagne (1901) by Santa Maria Novella. It's Tabasco sauce spilled on an ancient leather bound book cover.

Of course since you favor the 80's and some would argue that all the powerhouses are by today's standards pretty darn weird, go for broke (literally) and score a bottle of Versailles Pour Homme!
Now that's great/weird. It's got everything but the kitchen sink.

    Cheers,

    Mario

+1 Narciso Rodriguez. This is definitely weird, I kind of like the smell but it does give me a headache and I find it impossible to wear.

    You want weirdness?
Give yourself 1 spray of A*men, 1 spray of l'Anarchiste and 1 spray of Yatagan.
All three on the same spot. Preferably on the chest.

You should try CSP's Aqua Motu - It smells like some sea creatures eating decomposed plastic on the beach.

Quartz by Moulyneux- a heavily "mineralogical" scent, extremely neutral
Sculpture Homme by Nikos- quite unilateral powdery sweetness, an overwhelming suggestion of licorice and hardly anything else

Le Feu d'Issey - hard to find but uniquely weird and wonderful

Bvlgari's Black. It has a rather rubbery-tire-cement scent to it, i don't know if it would be too weird though!

if you can, check out the CB I Hate Perfume line, i specially recommend the synthetic accords.

    Serge Lutens - Arabie

Crazy syrupy, spicy, dried fruit scent. It's a perfume I never see myself wearing for any occasion, but highly respect it.

You could try Dali by Salvador Dali, it's actually quite nice, but a bit on the weird side.

Agree on Fahrenheit and Bvlgari Black.

    And my contribution:
Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur --> smells like shit... seriously. Maybe I got a bad sample? xD
Versace Dreamer --> I don't remember it anymore, but was so weird for me.
Hermes Un Jardin sur le nil --> Dizzy me.
