hello,
i liked TDH in the beginning a lot.
but then i became sick of the grapefruit smelling like rotten fruits to me.
but i like the rest of TDH besides the citrus
so i ask you:
is there a scent out there which still has the raw, peppery earthiness without the rotten fruit accord ?
thanks

Acqua di Giò is my guilty pleasure. What's yours?
like i said i have no problem with TDH in total.
i only cant stand the rotten orange peel.
but i very very like the flint-vetiver earthy thing.
+1 on Cartier Declaration.
Perhaps Voyage d'Hermes. You still get the pepper, the spice, cardamom, and the cedar and woodsy dry down. The citrus top note is lime, but it's a very bland lime and doesn't really give me that citrus feel so much. Though it is a very fresh fragrance. Aside from it's appearance and the way it is marketed, I'd really label this more of a sporty fragrance.
I too am a big pepper/woods fan, you may wanna check out Burberry The Beat, Parah, and Tommy Bahama.
Gianni Campagna. A Terre D'Hermes clone.
I agree with The_Cologneist, try Voyage d'Hermes, I get a whiff of TdH with no citrus.

I tested out Hermes Eau de Gentiane Blanche samples. To me, it smells like Terre D'Hermes without the citrus notes.
If you can find it, Grigioperla Essence could be close to what you'relooking for.
3rd Montale Red Vetyver. If you like the flinty-vetiver vibe then you'll love Red Vetyver. Some say it's less flinty but I disagree.
Also, have you tried TdH Parfum? I find it's a bit less citrusy.

+1, try the Parfum. That one makes Terre wearable for me. I also thought that the grapefruit was my problem, but it was something else. A reviewer called Terre EDT an "olfactory laser" and that´s a good description. It was just a little too much for me. The EDP solved that issue.
Declaration and Voyage are good suggestions too.
+1 for Montale Red Vetyver.
I don't have a problem with TdH turning "rotten citrus" on me (it doesn't do that IOW)... but if you want a similar effect without the citrus, try (seriously) Sycomore.
