Default Encre Noire: a floral opening?

I am testing my sample of Encre Noire today, and God was I shocked.

The opening is so floral and feminine. Where is the smoke and the brutal vetiver?

Does Encre Noire have florals in the opening?
Does it even come to your mind that this stuff is feminine?

Or did the unthinkable happen and they send me a decant of the POUR ELLE version?

I don't think they would reformulate a fragrance for men in such a way that it is entirely feminine.
Because that's what it is to my nose.
They clearly send me a decant of the POUR ELLE version, now that is the third bad experience with Essenza Nobile.
I'm going to open a topic about this store very soon, and warn everyone for their sample service.

Encre Noire has a very noticeable rose geranium note in it. On me, the geranium note spends most of the scent making things smell dark and brooding (and if you smell really close, there's a licorice note buried in there that comes from the geranium, too, especially in the base). But there's a distinct rosey aspect also. Maybe the hot weather is bringing it out more...

Plus, it's possible that you sprayed more than usual and desensitized yourself to the iso e super so the stuff that's normally in the background came forward.
Has everyone checked out my Top 100 Blog??

I did 2 sprays to the chest and 1 on my arm, which is not much since those samples/decants don't spray big clouds. I don't think I have problems with iso e super, as I own Terre d'Hermes and that is supposed to be loaded with it. I oversprayed TdH quite some times without experiencing similar things.

The problem is that there is no vetiver in it, there is nothing masculine about it.
And in the reviews I am reading the POUR ELLE version is very floral.

I did post in other topics that it is a delicious vetiver fragrance, but that is from another mini sample. This is a spray sample.

I have two samples of Encre Noire and I do not catch even the slightest bit of floral notes. I get the coldest, highest quality vetiver out there. Could it even be possible that Encre has been reformulated so soon???

yeah think you'bve got the female version. i really cannot discover anything remotely resembling your description in my cherished bottle of EN
I take a bottle of wine and I go drink it among the flowers.
We are always three ... counting my shadow and my friend the shimmering moon
Happily the moon knows nothing of drinking, and my shadow is never thirsty
When I sing, the moon listens to me in silence. When I dance, my shadow dances too.
After all festivities the guests must depart. This sadness I do not know.
When I go home, the moon goes with me and my shadow follows me
