Default Piper Nigrum - a good winter fragrance?

Hey there! New here, so dont bite too hard, please

Trying to pick out a nice winter frag (niche preferably). Just recently tested Piper Nigrum and it was right up my alley. It lasted at least 5-6 hours on my skin, terrific scent. So, do you guys think this would work in the winter or do I need something a little simpler for everyday wear? Im looking for something similar but perhaps not as strong ("in your face") spicy cologne. Thanx guys!

    Try:

    Armani Prive Bois d'Ences
    Floris Santal
    Monocle Laurel

Yes, Piper Nigrum works great in winter! I used it frequently during a trip to Vienna during winter and enjoyed it immensely. For me it is a much better cool weather scent than warm weather scent. That camphoraceous quality and the pepper make it very satisfying in cold weather.

But it might be a bit too much for frequent everyday wear unless you really, really like it.

I love Piper Nigrum and think it is great in winter, but like noggs, I wouldn't wear it every day.

    Noted! thanx, bro.

It would be really hard for me not to wear it everyday as I freaking love the smell of it. What would be a good alternative, though? Is there anything out there that smells similar but less concentrated? Thanx for your input, guys.

A great winter scent, not to heavy, not to light either. I prefer Piper Nigrum over Bois d'Encens, since Bois d'Encens on me starts too strong and quickly develops to a light scent. Piper Nigrum seems more balanced, the black pepper is spicy but has something fresh, gingerish too. A great one

    I rarely used Piper Nigrum, but when I do it is on the very crispest of winter days. On these occasions it works very well. There are so many spicy fragrants to choose from, but the following spring to mind as I am typing;

    • Spezie
    • Opium EDP
    • L'eau by Diptique

Hey, thanx for your suggestions, I'll give that a try. I actually sampled Spezie 1st and initially liked it more than Piper. Only one issue I had with it - it doesn't last! Piper on the other hand projects nicely and stays around for at least 6 hours on me. Another 1 I really like is d'absinth by l'artisan, but again, after about 45 mins it's undetectable

I agree this is a great winter scent.

The only other pepper prominent scents that I like better than Piper Nigrum are all more expensive too...so I hesitate to recommend them.

For the hell of it, why don't you try the new Marc Jacobs Bang?

$180 is quite a bit. In Germany, the price is 95 euro (~$120). Now I am tempted to get myself a bottle.

Im in Canada. We're used to being charged for nice things up our bums.

Not that I regret paying that much.
