Default who else keeps 'sniffers' on hand?

Recently I've been on a kick to try vintage classics. I have no intention of wearing these samples, i just want to smell them from time to time. Who else does this, i'm curious. And if so, what have you added to your vault? here is my list:

    -vintage miss dior parfum
    -vintage Arpege edp
    -F millot shypre
    -F Millor Crepe du chene
    -Deneuve
    -Germaine Bakir
    -Vintage Fidji parfum
    -vintage Caron Fleurs de Rocaille

    hehe. fun for me:-)

    Oh, goodness yes!!

Now I have a term, thanks to you. And it's going stick around; I can feel it.

In fact, I swapped away most of my "sniffer"-origin full-bottles; I just took about 5 - 10 ml out of each before hand, so that I'd always have the smellable reference in my little decant library.

My ultimate goal is to have a totally-wearable, totally-"me", totally-modest FB collection and an impressively-comprehensive, if-not-wearable, little 'sniffer' collection!

I cannot begin to enumerate, really, I have loads and loads.

I got many of the vials just for reference purposes, in the 100s. Say, this fragrance reminds me of ______ -- I always have a source to revisit and compare. 5 Mitsoukos from different eras and in different formulations, for example.

Personally I do not like the term "sniffer" -- -er suffix signifies the action agent to me -- a person!

In general, I keep very few.

That is, I do have samples on hand that I am testing, but I tend to get rid of them once I have made a decision about whether or not I want to buy a bottle. This may take quite a while, but once I've made up my mind, that's it.

I've got quite a few sniffers. I'm trying to break myself of the habit, actually. In other areas as well...I just tend to accumulate too much. What if I drop dead? Whose going to deal with all this stuff? It will wind up in a landfill, or best case - in a thrift store where someone else will discover my sniffers.

I have a whole collection of "sniffers" (or should it be "sniffees"?), mostly in a sample library. I actually got into perfume making because of my huge collection of essential oils that I kept purely for sniffing purposes. Instead of watching TV, as normal people do, I would go and sniff my EOs for entertainment. I still have sessions where I just sniff things, perfumes, EOs, aroma chemicals, works in progress, everything. Talk about pathological behavior!

Loving the term 'sniffers'! "Whar's them lil' sniffers?!"

For me it posesses an ironic sort-of element of allusion to 'crap-culture' cutesey and the misattribution of the active ending to the object in question, e.g., "Little Dippers", a 'dipable' waffle-stick product.

It's just the sort of silliness I'd conjure, too!

I love the sniffers - and I keep them even if I hate the scent! I have some bizarre little samples, like this Victorian trading co "hopeless romantic" scent.

Sephora has the wonderful policy where if you want a sample they give it to you, no questions asked. I've been abusing the system and need to get full bottles of Shalimar, Hypnotic Poison, AA Pampelune, CK one and maybe, maybe Coco as well, STAT.

Dear me yes. I like having a reference library and I've just started building it. Raw materials, single notes and classics, among other things - I was given small samples of civet, musk and ambergris the other week, I'm assuming synthetics and accords rather than the pure materials, that was fantastic and they will definitely stay for reference, layering and slightly morbid entertainment, in the case of the civet. The ambergris is wonderfully complex, too.

Yes indeed, but largely for aromatherapy for myself at work. When I get stressed, I'll whip out a vial and breathe, usually with an announcement "It's aromatherapy time, do not disturb"...my staff may think I'm weird, but I'm past caring at that point and it works.

Thanks, kids. Being highly organized is generally a pleasure and occasionally a demanding habit.

Q., let me tell them all your secret -- she wove that basket with handles HERSELF -- as based on the instructional brochure from the local library and as inspired by the antique wicker chairs, all mounted on the tray with guards.

Originally I had the tray strung like this (caning seen below), but a few weeks ago I replaced the ribbon with a slightly wider product for better "grippage" and made a simple back-and-forth webbing, which resulted in more holes and greater vial capacity. The tray is from the Tracy Porter designer line.

The ammunition holders (in the foreground of the photo above) are really great. Ubu got me hooked on these.
