Cartier Déclaration Eau Généreuse (2003) Jean-Claude Ellena Fresh Chypre
•Top Notes: Mandarin, Neroli, Coriander, Bergamot, Artemisia, Caraway, Russian Birch •Middle Notes: Cardamom, Black Pepper, Jasmine, Juniper, Orris Root, Iris, Cinnamon, Ginger •Base Notes: Cedar, Vetiver, Leather, Amber, Oakmoss, Tea Notes
This is my favorite version of Déclaration. I think the appeal is that the basic Déclaration idea is translated into an Eau-de-cologne style. The re-balanced citrus and green notes in the top take some of the bitter birch tar edge off the basic fragrance and enliven it just enough to make it a good warn-weather wear. The trouble is that it's nearly impossible to find; but the trade-off is that the bottle I have is huge! Jean-Claude Ellena has done a great job on this one! I find this version of Déclaration very energizing and invigorating. It hangs around just enough, with good sillage, but it's not a one-two punch. With warm weather approaching, I find myself looking forward to the treat of wearing this again.

I'd worn this quite a bit when it first came out, and hadn't really thought about until until someone mentioned it here. And upon trying it again, I can see why: it is, as others have noted, mostly forgettable. There remains something for me to enjoy in the opening citrus-green-floral notes, but after trying more interesting things, there is nothing special in this fragrance. Pleasant enough, but, as they say in the film, "there is so much -more- than 'pleasant'".

l’ être aimé homme
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Artisan by John Varvatos
"Artisan, was presented on the market in March 2009. It is constructed as a citrusy-herbal fragrance which announces spring and fresh air created by John Varvatos and Rodrigo Flores-Roux of Givaudan, who worked on other Varvatos' editions.
The fragrance opens with Sicilian clementine, tangelo fruit, Mexican tangerine, aromatic thyme, Spanish marjoram and Greek lavender. A heart adds North African orange blossom, Indian plant Murraya, combination of jasmine and orange, an ingredient used in creation of the first fragrance. There are three sorts of ginger: Nigerian, Chinese and "purple ginger" developed in Givaudan laboratory. A base encompasses Kephalis wood and Geaorgewood, along with amber-like Belleambre and musky Serenolide.
Its flacon was designed by Jon Cisler Design."
