Exclamation Desiderates spicy and sweet classics!

Since I'm not so experienced in the world of fragrances as many of you are I want to get some opinions about classics. Im looking for spicy and sweet scents. Name 5 of your all time spicy/sweet favourites.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Siifter, welcome to basenotes! l'm no expert on men's fragrances, but l know what l like;

Paco Rabanne 1 Million & Black XS
    Dior Farenheit
    Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male

l can only think of 4 but these all smell sweet & spicy to my nose. Happy hunting!

To me YSL Opium Homme is exatly sweet and spicy. Or many ambers like Frapan Caravelle Epicee, or Tom Ford Amber Absolute, Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan, etc. Jo Malone Vanilla and Anise. that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.
    Tom Ford Splits!!!!
Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather, Noir de Noir, Oud Wood
    Plum Japonais,
Lavender Palm, Tobacco Oud, Café Rose, etc...

Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads

    Historically, my fave group too.

Here are some stand outs for me:

    Lp9
    Opium PH and summer editions
    Jaipur
    Mandragore
A*Men (kind of a renegade take on the idea)

and since you said "5", I'll stop there.

    Okay, another five:

Envy (makes me sneeze if I over spray)
    Antidote
    IKON
    M7
    Heritage

*Z-14 is on the edge of this subgenre to me. It is spicy and sweet and warm, but more uniquely blended to express a very individual feel with more of a hint of citrus and or herb than the others.

Plus, I would like to second Black Orchid- soooo nice- and Witness- my go to for cinnamon.

Do try to get a sample of Lp9 though.

To my nose, all of the following are 5-star scents that fit the bill:

    Frapin Caravelle Epicee
    L'Occitane Eau des Baux
    Tauer L'air Du Desert Marocain
    Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan
    Divine L'homme Sage

    This is a disgrace!

No one has mentioned Must de Cartier PH, Lolita Lempicka au Masculin or YSL Body Kouros! These are the "3 Kings" of High Street Spicy Orientals.

If you want to take the hot cinnamon of Must further, then you have to go niche, Serge Luten Rousse. Although it has an odd Iris note in the heartnotes that makes it smell a bit like lipstick for a while.

To me, Jaipur (and the similar Diesel Zero Plus), and LP No9 are 'florientals'. Opium PH is LP No9 plus Black pepper. Some might argue that Black pepper is a spice, I would say no, it's just a nostril irritant.

    Vanilla...

Lets see if I can get the Hypnotic Poison recommendation in before the flood comes! This is the most commonly recommended Vanilla prominent scent (and yes, its marketed at women, just go with it and try it, personally its too floral for me to pull off. I have a real problem with Floral Notes!)

Otherwise, Caron Pour Un Homme, or Joop Thrill Man
