    Default SOTD - Wednesday September 15th 2010

I must apologise for having a knack for starting SOTD threads early this past week, but I'm oh-so-excited today I just had to share this that I just received today:

I had read so much about how great this scent is, but also the opinions of some detractors, so I was awaiting this particular delivery(not bought on the Bay btw) with bated breath.

Expecting Heaven or Hell(if I didn't like the smell, it would be hell because I had shelled out $146 plus shipping!)

Turns out it was BETTER THAN Heaven!

The box was severely dented and when I saw the name of the sender, I felt quite nervous because I knew that the precious bottle & box were inside!

Couldn't undo the package fast enough!

Fortunately, due to secure packing, not a dent was found on the box, but a reddish-brown tinge had found its way to the top of the bubble wrap close to the stopper.

Immediately I sniffed it and fell in love immediately!!

I had sampled the legendary Shalimar, but couldn't quite understand what the fuss was about, but when I sniffed LHB, I understood immediately!

Such a complex scent:the anise opening kept me breathing in for more, and I rubbed the sticky cellophane on my forearm so as not to waste the leaked extrait.

I did not see the blue hour when I closed my eyes: instead, I was transported to a spice ship heading for Tunisia, under a clear cloudless sky, surrounded by smiling people, the sparkle in whose eyes resembled angels.Moments later, I was in Egypt, having a lunch filled with fragrant herbs, talking animatedly with friendly locals.

If Nirvana had a smell, it was L'Heure Bleue...

Hence, my SOTD is L'Heure Bleue extrait!

Wearing a vintage (50's/60's) EdC called Shantung, slightly candied, aldehydic citrus opening that quickly dries down to powder. Nice, if not earth-shattering.

I have a cold, so my nose is being tricksy. I'm wearing Les Néréides Fleur Poudrée de Musc and it's smelling like a soft soapy/powdered version of Ava Luxe's Incense Noir. If it smells like this next week I'll be a happy bunny!

Because I left the LHB-soiled bubble wrap in my room, the space now smells like an Indian/Middle-Eastern/African spice shop...

Hooray! My ship has arrived in Tunisia...

Also, it seems as if LHB shares a middle note or two with BaV which I wore yesterday...

My SotD is By Kilian - Liaisons Dangereuses. As Turin describes it: Rose Jam. The edible rose note is prevalent for the first 30 minutes, but after that it smells like leather and gardenia to me... I quite like it, being the floral-leather-scent fan (nut) that I am
