Default Any other fans of JEAN-LOUIS SCHERRER EDT?

I don't wear fragrances intended for women very often, but there are a handful that I do wear on occasion. The original Scherrer EDT by Jean-Louis Scherrer is one of them. After searching far and wide for a reasonable price, I just recently scored a bottle of this from xmen. It is unbelievably great.

For those unfamiliar with this scent, it's a beautiful leathery rose chypre right out of the old school. Yes, it obviously makes a great feminine scent, but I love the smell so much that I wear this comfortably as a masculine. Just go lightly on the trigger. Fans of dark leather chypres in the old style HAVE to try this.

I never read anything about this fragrance. Am I the only male fan of this?

I doubt you're the only man who loves Scherrer, but I know there are many female fans. It's a tough, bitter, green chypre that I treasure. It has Costus in it, which mimics the smell of unwashed hair. Sexy!

It smells a lot like Aramis 900 to me.

Its one of my top favourites. I started a thread recently, because a friend of mine was sure it had been discontinued and I was trying to establish if that really was the case, (I still dont know) ?
If you like Jean-Louis Scherrer you should also try Alix Grs . This one has been discontinued, but you can still find it quite easily on the net. Its really fantastic - a bitter green chypre with an exquisite leather drydown.

Shamu, I agree completely with the comparison to Aramis 900, which is my all-time favorite fragrance. I have only tried the EDP version of JL Scherrer. The costus that Scentimental Fool mentions above as mimicking unwashed hair makes sense to me, because along with all the green-rose-chypre goodness, there is some kind of dense, animalic note that I liken to the smell of lanolin, and I find a similar note in Aramis Devin. So for me, JL Scherrer comes off sort of like a cross between Devin and Aramis 900.

Ultimately, I found it a little redundant in my collection, particularly with liking Aramis 900 so much, so I have the EDP listed on my sales thread now...
I wanna say something. Im gonna put it out there. If you like it, you can take it, if you dont, send it right back."

I have the EdP version. I love it, and yet, I hardly ever wear it. The drydown is glorious, but I find something slightly 'old-school-lady's perfume' going on for the first hour. I believe it's still in production.

I have both A900 and Devin, so I'll have to try layering the two, in preparation for the time when my Scherrer runs dry.

I spray on Wifey's Scherrer 2 once in a while. Big chypre with shoulder pads. A really special and sentimental scent to both of us since 1989. Her wedding frag to my Lapidus pour Homme (the poor priest!!! ;0) ).
ointments and perfume delight the heart....
