Tann Rokka Aki -- yesterday was a cold day with the temps in the 40s and drizzle, it is gonna be warmer today. Going to work in a little bit, but when I am back I will bake that old fashioned bread with cardamom and orange peel, rye flour and molasses.

Wow that bread sounds wonderul Twolf!
My youngest sister bought me a bottle of Guerlain
Idylle for my birthday last week and I am wearing
it this morning. It is a charming, soft floral - very well-behaved
and polite. I find the lily-of -the -valley note is more pronounced on
my skin than the rose. It reminds me of Diorissimo a bit.

Today I'm wearing IDOLE by LUBIN. It's wonderful - spicy, uplifting - just gorgeous!
And the best thing is: My husband loves it, too - and likes wearing it himself. So we can share this one. Sort of doubles the fun!

No idea what we're doing today but I feel laaaaaaaaazzzy....I don't even know what fragrance I'm in the mood for! Must be the hormones: either something super light like Bulgari's Petits et Mamans or something much richer like Mugler's Alien Liqueur de Parfum....to be continued :-)

After a morning in Kolnisch Juchten which stood up nicely to the yardwork I needed to do, I am in a post-shower test of Graines de Paradis from Sharini Parfums Naturals. You can find the list of notes here on Olfacta's blog.

With opening notes like a Mediterranean Foods store, citrusy, warm, spicy, slightly floral, definitely "peppery", a definite cacophony of fruits, spices, and teas… quite exotic, really, and I did actually sense the musk note in the top with all that other stuff going on. Also the patchouli is present in the exotic spice "shelf" of this one.

This is a warm, sensual, multilayered scent for sure. After the initial citrus drydown, the white flower notes emerge... then the drydown retains the spice-shop qualities while coming off with a bit of a Yatagan effect... not bad!

I spent a few hours walking around the mall solo and sniffing this and that.

One whiff of C&E Iris immediately brought me back to Vancouver where I spent a few days at Expo 1986. I have no idea what, exactly, this scent has to do with that trip, but so it is. It's surprisingly tenacious-- I just sprayed my arm once and 7 hours later it's still going strong. Because of the pleasant associations I rather like it, but I don't see myself getting a full bottle.

I sprayed Acqua di Gioia on at Nordstrom and liked the top notes enough to ask for a sample. But, horrors! Musk, an awful, strident musk developed and I could not get rid of it even with scrubbing. Too bad, because I love the bottle!

At Sephora I asked for a sample of Benefit Lookin' To Rock Rita, a nice fig + coconut scent-- and only $36 for the 1 oz. bottle. Try it, if you like figs!

I also tried Versace Versus ("Kumquat, Sweet Star Apple, Lemon, Orange Flower, Stephanotis, Rose Centifolia, Patchouli, Musk, Ambrette Seeds" per Sephora website) and Gucci Guilty ("mandarin, pink pepper, peach, lilac, geranium, amber and patchouli" per Fragrantica). Neither of these did a thing for me.

Having sniffed a few for hubby, I sniffed Ralph Lauren Big Pony Collection numbers 1-4 brought him home samples of #1 (lime, grapefruit, mandarin) and #3 (mint, ginger) as well as Bleu de Chanel.

Edit: I noticed with dismay that Nordstrom didn't have an Annick Goutal in stock...testers, yes, though none of the new roses, but no bottles for sale. The SA didn't know what the problem was with the new AG representative.

SOTD was a dab of Caron Farnesiana - it was GORGEOUS the other night, but only ok today. Hm. I'll keep testing this one, but maybe it's just as well (d/c'd? shucks!). It has pretty much worn off at this point, so it's just about time for another sample of something pretty!

Evangeline- I don't know if I would call it unique- it's gorgeous, it's got that Andy Tauer 'mark' and the rose is quality all the way - it reminds me of an even rosier, sweeter Nahema ,in some ways. It really has a rose-sweet -musky heart to it on my skin. Longevity is pretty decent - not nuclear powered like Andy Tauer's new Eau d'Epices but it's decent.

This evening, it's Vol de Nuit parfum extrait. This one always ,always takes me back to London and that one magical moment when I bent to sniff my wrist. The Vol de Nuit parfum bloomed . I was surrounded by all the greenery of Spring, the sights and sounds of West London and it was just such a gift of a moment. It's a moment I will always remember because it was just pure happiness. We all know those just don't come around too often .
