Another +1 for CdG.... Yes, it's a designer, not niche in my book too.
I would say Guerlain or Azzaro - both are about equal in my collection. Azzaro stuff is more casual, Guerlain stuff is more professional/evening type stuff.

YSL for Kouros with Chanel a close second for Cuir De Russie, Sycomore and Antaeus.
I own only 1 or 2 from each of these houses, so I'd say I don't have a favorite house based on my collection. If I had to PICK only one designer house it would probably be YSL for the sheer variety of smells.
My favorite house overall is Creed, followed by Bond. There. I said it. I own several from each of them.

As of now:
1.) YSL
2.) Chanel
3.) Thierry Mugler
My current favorites:
- Chanel
- Yves Saint Laurent
- Thierry Mugler
Interesting question. I'm really a newcomer, and I haven't tried any designer extensively enough to be sure, but current top three (not in any order)...
* Chanel (Egoiste, Antaeus)
* YSL (Rive Gauche, M7)
* Guerlain (Vetiver, Habit Rouge)
To choose just one, it would have to produce a lavender-heavy fougere, something animalic, a nice rose-based floral, and something woody and spicy.
Alan
Chanel by a significant margin.
Second is Tommy Bahama - not a clinker in their small but delightful lineup.
When I was in the designer world, I loved some D&G and Versace. Nautica also had a good couple of fragrances. I just can't wear it now after spoiling myself with such awesome niche fragrances...
I think I would go with ysl i love rg and nuit is good for night and winter plus other great choices hugo would finish second,
I am head over heels in love with the house of Dior.
But Chanel is a very close runner up.
I guess Dior for their female frags:
- Les Poisons
- Miss Dior Chérie - original formulation
- Dolce Vita
- Dioressence
- Diorella
... to name but a few.
Chanel for their male ones:
- Égoïste (Cologne Concentree)
- Antaeus
- AHÉB
- AHSEE
- Pour Monsieur
- -ll- Concentree
... again, to name but a few!
But, the male Diors and female Chanels are also TDF.
I also adore Givenchy, though.
It's either YSL or Thierry Mugler.
Hoping to try a few Chanel's soon.
Its a close one between YSL and Creed. Creed with the advantage by a nose.
Looking to trade:
Gucci Pour Homme 1.7oz 99% full.
Looking for:
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanillae, Tom Ford Black Orchid, A*MEN Pure Malt
Thierry Mugler
has to be. based on price, uniqueness of scents and their longevity.
Chanel
CdG
Hermes
Guerlain, followed by YSL.
Top 5 (random order):
1. Creed Aventus
2. L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme
3. Le Labo Rose 31
4. Terre D'Hermes EdT
5. YSL Rive Gauche
Mugler no question.
YSL even though it doesn't show in my wardrobe.
Chanel
Tom Ford
Tough choice between Chanel & Dior now that Dior have their Privé Collection happening.
BTW - I don't consider Guerlain as 'designer' as their primary business has always been fragrance and related products. I could quite happily live with only Guerlain stuff.
using my own wardrobe statistics Dior, Hermes, Chanel, VC&A
Want to trade - Chanel Platinum Egoiste for Dior Eau Sauvage...

I would like to see a clear definition of "Designer house", since it would greatly alter my list, but based on what I consider Designer houses, this would be by tops:
Tom Ford
Chanel
Thierry Mugler
Hermes
Kenneth Cole (no joke)
Bvlgari
Current Winter Favorites:
1. House of Matriarch - Blackbird
2. Brückner - Aoud 1
3. Creed - Royal Oud
4. Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 - Generation Man
5. Armani Privé - Oud Royal
6. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
7. Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 - Mortal Skin
8. Ormonde Jayne - Black Gold
9. Creed - Royal English Leather
10. by Kilian - Cruel Intentions
Hermes by far for me...
Chanel - Based on Exclusifs although I do love Blue de Chanel as well. Good to see it's getting some love here with some mixed reviews.
Bois Des Iles
Coromandel
Sycomore
Easily Aramis. I have Aramis, Aramis 900, Tuscany, Tuscany Forte, Havana, Devin, and JHL (am on the hunt for New West; PM me if you're selling it), and all are superb.
