Good morning! I'm wearing Aromatics Elixir and probably killing people with sillage, I happened to apply one spray more than usual this morning. I smell gorgeous, though!

Last week I wore Laliques Encre Noir. Today I'm wearing the girlie version -

    ENCRE NOIR POUR ELLE edp

My nose is not sure what is going on with this, but it is rather pleasant; beautifully blended, it is a silky fragrance which is sitting close to my skin despite a spray or two more than I usually apply of any scent. I want to smell more of it so waft my clothes now and then to get a whiff of what I suspect is loveliness. The perfumer is Christine Nagel, so it has quite a pedigree. I can forgive her now for Cartier Delices and Jo Malone's Pear and Fresia. On the other hand she created Theorema, so I kiss the hem of her garment.

According to Harrods these are the notes (does Roger Dove write them up for Harrods?):

    Top notes:
Sicilian bergamot gives a Hesperidic freshness, with grains of Indonesian amber
    Middle notes:
floral blend of freesia, mellow and powdery Turkish rose, osmanthus and ambery kephalis
    Base notes:
    Haiti vetiver, Texan cedar
Reformulation without information is fraud. Call the police.

Sestra, thanks for having posted your impressions of Lalique Encre Noire pour Elle, I have been reading about it. A girl can dream, right?

Sonia Rykiel original (pullover) on me today -- sweet pineapple and patchouli for the last day of summer. It lasts and lasts, can become cloying though but we all enjoy the joy of cloy once in a blue moon. I do!

Go and make this day wonderful, everyone!

Up early (woke up with one arm asleep, dead-asleep, from my sleeping like the dead...LOL) and will have a busier than busy next two weeks... This morning I intend to wear something to bolster my "okay folks this is the FINAL draft, right, sign it off so we can produce this baby!" standing-my-ground mood. So I'm thinkin' It's a BB/B day (Bulgari Black layered with Bandit). If I still had a leather jacket this would be the day for THAT, too.

    Good morning!

    Tabac Blond today.

Yesterday night a little tabby cat was mewing outside our door, so I let it in and our cat Sally threw a complete fit and didn't fully recover until this morning. So much for getting another cat. In hindsight it was totally irresponsible to just let another cat in, for various reasons (diseases, etc.) Sally's been an only cat for over five years. I wonder if she'd react less negatively (ha) to a kitten? Anyone have experience?

Carolina Girl, welcome! This is a wonderful place to be.

TWolf, thanks for mentioning that it's the last day of Summer. I haven't thought about it, but I'm glad you brought it to the forefront of my mind. I wanted to wear Pure Poison today, but when I woke up it felt like a nice Summer day, so I went with my new Summer favorite. White Magnolia is a lovely summer scent, it makes me feel like I am sitting under a blooming tree with my mother in law, and we are sipping cool peach drinks. This perfume has a peachy note, but it's not sweet, it is incredibly gentle. White petals floating in the breeze -- cliche, but this is the one that does it for me. But it needs generous dabbing -- or a good spray! (which now I don't have since I'm wearing it from a sample).

    White Magnolia notes from DSH
    :

Top notes: Bergamot, Osmanthus, White Peach
    Middle notes: Magnolia
Base notes: Brazilian Vetiver, Honey, Orris

I'm wearing Dzongkha today. It's a second test-drive, ending up about where the first one did: convinced that iris and I will never be friends.

No woods, no incense, no leather that everyone raves about. Just unrelenting iris and the slightest breath of tea.

I think my chemistry must be broken when it comes to iris. Everything I've tried with iris does this to me.

Welcome to the 3 new members posting here!

Today I ended up wearing Basenotes Fragrance Project's Scent C layered with Bulgari Black on a hunch. It was a success and though I won't go into the notes here just yet, got quite a few favorable comments at work. This afternoon/evening I'm in Samsara.

And happy last day of Summer for our hemisphere... oddly enough, the clouds and atmosphere today seem more Autumnlike than they have, with what turned out to be a long hot late-starting summer. (I am eagerly awaiting the cooler days ahead... it has been TOO hot here, with way too many days in the 100º plus range and too many late summer days in the mid 90ºs.

    Welcome, Carolina Girl!

Today is my daughter 13th birthday. We had a dr appointment this morning & then we played "hooky". She previewed the new MAC Disney Villians Collection, saw a movie, ate a scoop of Baskin Robbins. It was fun. Her phone hasn't stopped beeping with all of the birthday wishes on facebook. So sweet!

My SOTD has been Narcisco Rodriguez For Her edt and I even got a compliment!
