    Default SoTD - Tuesday September 28th 2010

With nobody starting one, I've decided to do it.

    My SoTA is Guerlain'sInsolence

Just arrived today. Sprayed it on, and: 'Wow'! Despite some criticisms, I like this....a lot! The berries & violet are loud & brash, but I'd like to think of them as bright & effusive

Good morning all! Woke up without a clue as to what scent to wear today. I think it's the weather (cool, humid...neither autumnal nor summery). So, I'm "auditioning" a few scents on wrists and arms before my shower:

Hermes Eau Claire des Merveilles - a possibility
Bulgari Rose Essentielle - no, not right for this weather
Guerlain L'Instant de Guerlain - hmmm, perhaps?
Chanel Cristalle - oh yes! Singing on my skin!

Off to shower and will go with Cristalle.

    Have a great Tuesday.

somehow, Shalimar edp has become my Angel
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." That red door looks exactly like the one on our old house, except that ours opened on the other side. It makes me feel nostalgic.

I'm on a sample finishing mission. This morning it's Musc Bleu by Il Profumo. It doesn't smell particularly blue to me (more green in the beginning), but I'm just glad I can smell it at all. I used to not be able to. I've made some dietary changes recently, and my sense of smell is becoming clearer as a result (less nasal stuffiness).

Thanks for the vote cello, and all the hard work...lol! You do smell glorious! It's harder than it seems, and I'm starting to think I'm making it too important....but I'm really not. I just want to make sure it's right, and BdI could never be wrong (but then again, neither could Coromandel, Coco or 8e Jour, etc...)

Haunani, my condolences to you and your family. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Evangeline, I just now put it together that you are getting married -- congratulations! I imagine this has already been thought of or suggested to you, but have you considered Joy parfum as a wedding scent?

Yesterday's scent, Cabochard, was not my cup of tea, as it kept pulling up that dreaded mildew note all day long, so today I am choosing a more "me" scent from my friend's wardrobe: Madame Rochas. Take care, all.

I'm in L'Artisan Fleur d'Oranger today...tried to pick something that would soothe my mom, as I have to go over there just now-- she's had some nasty side effects from her new meds (Namenda and Aricept-- for early dementia) and is ready to throw ALL her pills in her pillbox in the toilet, including her blood pressure and thyroid meds.

I hope I can talk her down!

I have been wearing Yvresse by YSL today. It's cooler and this scent always wraps around me. In the heat, it can be too much.
There is still a bit left, but I hesitate to reapply, since I am teaching music to little ones this afternoon and they can be rather sensitive to scents. Tonight I plan to wear Silences.
30 Roses, good luck with your mom. I am going through similar with mine.

    carolina girl, welcome to Basenotes!

Well, I got Mom settled-- I pulled all the new dementia meds for the week out of her pill box and re-explained to her what the other meds are for and why she can't just stop them, and then quickly set her up with a favorite DVD to take her mind off the pill issue.

Diversion is a useful technique; I just wish I didn't have to use it.

30 Roses - I'm sure you'll only do the best things for your mother, and what you think is right. She's lucky to have you, and she certainly knows that! More hugs for ((you))!

As great as it is, 8e Jour is just a memory after a vicious workout and long hot shower. I'm in a lot of gorgeous vintage Samasara edp for the afternoon.

Yep - Samsara is another one I have in mind for the special day. Thanks Leesee and Mimi G for the good wishes! It's not for a while yet, but perfume is always fun to think about, and these focused wearings have been very gratifying! And actually Leesee, I wore Joy yesterday with the wedding in mind, but it's just not very "me." I'm also wanting to wear something that has a bit of history with us. Coco's on the list because that's what I was wearing when we met, for example, but we don't have any history with Joy.

I wore Coco and a spritz of Pour Monsieur to "butch it up" (albeit a teensy butch-up)... Needed something I hadn't worn in a while, and my day was a busy blur... sheesh. One week to go and this crazy project should be donedonedone. Beautiful weather but I mostly stayed chained to my desk rewriting voiceover scripts and compiling directions for a photoshoot, making a photoshoot "punch list," and e-mailing unsuspecting photo victims...er... models with details.

Ha! I'll bet you could carry it off! I am not the elegant, polished type and Sabi isn't "me" at all. But it is so beautiful that I just have to spend a day with it from time to time. :-)

I'm not the sophisticated type either, but I agree that Sabi is so gorgeous that it's hard not to fall in love with it whatever your type. Quarry sent me a sample, and I was very impressed.

Now, back to my regular type...

Aquolina Pink Sugar from a sample. It's feeding my sweet tooth this evening.

Mike, I know exactly what you mean, because today I pulled out a brown shirt and thought: "I need to wear somthing that smells woody to go with the brown." I picked up my decant of SL Santal de Mysore and wore that. ahhhh perfection! I had planned to purchase Santal de Mysore when it became available as part of the export line for a limited time, but it's been hard to pull the trigger with the $200 price tag.

    ((Haunani)) Please accept my condolences!

This is such a supportive board! Thank you all for being there-- sometime it just helps to just let it out a bit, ya know?

Hello dear BNers! Haunani - I'm so sorry to hear about your father. I got your PM and will respond very soon.

    30Roses
    - the med situation with your mom sounds so stressful. Glad that you figured out a temporary solution with her. Shucks. Big hugs for you and her, too!

    Let's see...

SOYesterday: Prada Infusion d'Iris EDP (BTW, I DID try the EDT a few days ago. It was part of the GWP bag for the recent NM promotion. Hm. It's NOT a diluted version of the EDP, that's for sure. Will retest, but my first impression was very disappointing.)

SOLastNight: Fracas parfum from a dear BNer! I think I prefer the parfum to the EDP, but both are nice.

SOTD: Chanel No. 19, the modern formulation of the parfum, that is. Hey, which reminds me, I'm glad to see Asha back, too!
